Hoping for Poland to make it out the group, maybe even a round beyond that. Also would be nice to see Denmark perform well. Real shame about no Holland though.

Oh right. This is a thing that is about to happen. I was slightly bothered that German supermarkets started stocking German flags and national colour themed stuff. Turns out Plan EU-0815 hasn't gone into effect yet. Phew.

Oh well. Sign me up. Go go go, Teutons. Ball them right in the thingy until they bleed.

Seriously though, I hope I will be able to attend some public viewings and soak in the hyped up atmosphere. And watch some exciting games, although to be honest most of them are exciting to a layman like me.

Best of luck to everyone ('s team of choice).
...Especially to the Germans, because they will obviously need it. No hidden bias here, no no.  :doge

You clearly haven't been following the team then. The coach is one of the best, if not the best coach they've had in decades and the team isn't built around Neymar anymore. The only crybaby left on the team is Thiago Silva and he may not even start on D. Though the team did get dealt a blow with Alves gone for the tournament, hopefully one of the two guys poised to take his place on right back can step up.

My group stage predictions.

GROUP A:
Egypt
Russia
Saudi Arabia
Uruguay

Advances: Without question Uruguay, but between Egypt and Russia i dunno. Will Putin really allow this team to crash out of the group stage?

GROUP B:
Iran
Morocco
Portugal
Spain

Advances: Spain, Portugal

GROUP C:
Australia
Denmark
France
Peru

Advances: France, maybe Peru. Tough shot calling Peru on this one, but they've been doing well.

GROUP D:
Argentina
Croatia
Iceland
Nigeria

Advances: Argentina, Croatia

GROUP E:
Brazil
Costa Rica
Switzerland
Serbia

Advances: Brazil, Switzerland.

GROUP F:
Germany
South Korea
Mexico
Sweden

Advances: Germany, Mexico. Sweden can maybe pull out against Mexico but I doubt it.

GROUP G:
Belgium
England
Panama
Tunisia

Advances: Belgium, England.

GROUP H:
Colombia
Japan
Poland
Senegal

Advances: Colombia, Poland.

A pretty straight forward group stage with a possible 2 or 3 surprises at most.

Salah isn't enough to pull Egypt through. He'll be a target and won't be able to do much. World Cup is such a different tournament than Champions League for obvious reasons. Box him out and Egypt is done. Simple strategy for most teams. Plus, are the Russians not going to be playing for their lives, literally?

Peru, from what i remember, were playing really well and Denmark not. But i can see Denmark going through over Peru. It's a tough call.

Says you.

Admittedly, in secret I hope for them to get offed at the very last second by worstKorea in an unlikely combination of self-inflicted defeat, once in a lifetime performance by the underdog and sheer bad luck, but until that happens, I'mma be sitting in a restaurant tooting mah horn for the home team and getting drunk like a good little bitchling.

Russia is pretty bad Assimilate, lno Putin fear will help them.

Egypt is a decent side, although El Neny is out now. They made it to the final of the Africa cup last time.

I know they're bad but historically there's only been one home team that didn't make it out of the group stages and that was South Africa. Russia is better than South Africa was.

If i had to actually bet money though yeah i'd probably bet Egypt.

squad around him were mostly compromise picks, we had the best coach then (Troussier) but there wasnt the competition and riches of selection of before. I mean we had Lucas Radebe etc and the 1998 and 2002 squads were good (but shallow) but our football has been in tatters since.

You must not know how trash the Saudi team is, was, and always will be. There's a reason why most saudis love soccer but never follow or support the national team.
why are they so bad?

They don’t train as much as a normal team should, the Saudi league tends to overpay for players to stay in the league which prevents any player from gaining experience in euro leagues like other countries, and they tend to get rewarded with Maybach’s and shit if they do badly so management essentially babies them.

At the end of the day, fuck em. They don’t take soccer/futbol seriously so nobody takes them seriously.
sounds like a great team to play for  :lol no matter what the score is, you're a winner. you should sign up for the team, breh
