The diving is driving me fucking insane. It's my fav. sport outside of combat sports but this WC has been a notch above, the cynicism is just totally outrageous. Makes Serie A catennacio of the 90s look full contact. Honestly mexico/SK is disgusting me right now and i'm actually rooting for mexico. Holding this wonderful sport back so much blah.

I guess it's easy to say from the sidelines but I'm convinced diving could be curbed by stringent refereeing (yellow and red cards). But the powers that be probably don't relish much the idea of having one atrocious year of games finishing at 9 vs 9 and much like anything else it's not always exactly easy to judge. Otherwise heavy fines or suspensions by a commission watching recorded games. The tricky part is that must be impartial and even not to be immediately discredited by fans.

But it is absolutely hurting the game and doing a number on the pacing.

So many sick plays interrupted because of tactical diving just this WC. Parking the bus is one thing, it already slows the game to a crawl, add in 100 percent diving and we are at NFL levels of down time. We should relish in the WC being a game rather than a war that needs to be won at whatever cost. I realize the naivety of my statement but this shouldn't be driven by business like the the Premier league. :'(

It's really unfortunate few sports can emulate the sheer beauty of a sick string of tiki taka passes leading to a goal in a tight space or the individual genius of a phenom driving through 4 players alone. Give it back you fairies, it's my right as a citizen of the world.
