It's not the articles that bother me, I just think we should have something better then wordpress. We have some talented people here, we have some ideas I'm sure. I think its kind of bland and could be much better.
Wordpress has a ton of templates, plus you can roll your own (I've done it before, it's not difficult); I think the homepage is fine but boring (plus it needs to be updated more often/daily to be worth visiting). I thought it would be a good idea to, instead of comments on entries, have blog posts connected to forum posts somehow (ie preferably automatically, though you could also just do it manually), and allow comments that way. This would drive traffic to the forums, and reduce comment spam. Of course, in order to drive traffic to the forums, the homepage needs to have compelling content and an overall sense-of-purpose: is it a blog about games; is it a blog about the forum; is it a blog about things forumites might find interesting? Part of the problem is trying to come up with a meaningful rationale why you'd post an article on the blog, instead of creating a thread on the forum.
