Dota 2 International 2018
« on: August 15, 2018, 01:04:38 PM »
it's my yearly thread about a game I don't play but EsPorts tournament of the year

I'm sure there are some story lines. First repeat winner in liquid? Even year so China got it for sure. Will ppds salt carry him and his band of misfits

Already fnatic had a easy win, now behind in racks, now trying to come back. First games cray

Who you cheering for?

I was talking to a girl in a bar a couple weeks ago about TI. I told her my odds on favorite is Liquid (although VP is a good choice as well). She was personally on board the ppd Salt train.

After day 1, it looks like China is a bit behind on strategies and it will be interesting to if they can catch up before it is too late.

Also, it'll be fun to watch the inevitable EG cratering and see how Eternal Envy fucks up, because he always does.

That's why he's great; he's the only Dota pro you can relate to from the trench. :cancry

It was something like hear brad talk about it on gb podcast —> watch international 2013/2014? —> try to pick up mid grad school (lol okay) —> give up and just enjoy the professional games from time to time

spectating this game is fucking depressing once you realize how frustrating the game is even for top players

no one really enjoys dota, but they keep playing thinking it'll be fun once they 'get better'
tell me one competitive scene where the pros aren't frustrated for any minuscule reason?

and nah, haven't played in a while but I have ~1000 hours logged and I had fun

EE games just don't disappoint. Every game, 100% winnable or lose-able, turns into a 60 min "i dunno" fest

Day 1 main event

Liquid > Optic. 2:0
VP > LGD 2:1

Fnatic > serenity
TNC > Miniski
Newbie > Winstrike
China > China

I'm probably too stoned to find a more relevant thread, but games 1 and 2 of Secret vs Mineski in the Loser's Bracket last night was some of the most dramatic competitive video game action I've ever seen.

still holds true on year later for this ti :lol
