Should I flip my Xbone
« on: November 24, 2018, 03:23:01 PM »
I've never sold a console before but goddamn it's so worthless

Bearing in mind that:

1. I have a baller PC so I can get the cross-platform shit
2. I have a 360 and OG Xbox, aka the actual good Xboxes, hooked up to my TV so BC isn't a thing
3. I don't need a 4K bluray player
4. I'm one foot in the grave and I'm not playing any more Halo or Gears

Should I go through with this

You might break it by flipping it.

Yup.  No point in owning one if you don't care about the backwards-compatibility and 4K blu-rays.  You can get almost everything from MS on PC at this point.

After Sunset Overdrive finally got a PC release, any interest I had in getting an Xbone was gone.  I think it's pretty cool that Microsoft finally made good on their promise to support PC gaming and started releasing everything on both platforms, so no hate from me.  I'm glad I didn't have to shell out for another console and pay to play online.

You can still use it for PC games!  :)

You only really had to flip those Playstation models because they'd overheat and the only exhaust port is on the bottom. (Or the alternative theory is that the laser/disc mechanism was incorrectly aligned. From the overheating and plastic warping. I don't remember if there ever was a definitive answer.)

The Xbox One is a useless brick.

The Xbox One X is what the Xbox One should've been.
So you could 'flip' it. But then again a first gen Xbox One model isn't worth much anyway.

Keep dat controller though and connect it to your PC.
My PC was basically my new Xbox until the Xbox One X came along.

As for the games. Rumor is that Microsoft is launching a physical to digital program next year and they'll launch a box without a disc drive.
The idea is that you can trade in your games for digital codes. Because again, unless you have some of the rare stuff the early Xbox One games are also worthless.

It's been packaged up and put on Craigslist. Farewell, you ruiner of a once-great legacy.

It has been done. Sold to a guy who didn't even want to play games on it, just wanted a cheap 4K Blu-Ray player.

I actually bought my Xbox One X because it was only 100 Euro more expensive than a 4K blu ray player with all the features. Those things are pretty costly.
The Xbox One X comes with Dolby Vision, HDR10+ etc. and all that jazz out of the box. For a 4K Blu Ray player it's pretty damn powerful.

After my dissapointment with the Xbox One I never expected the Xbox One X to be my favorite console in a while. But here we are.

I just think I might not get that much money out of it.

I spent 210 on it in total by the way including RDR2
