Is this obsidian fallout thing a joke or no?

Edit: nm, I just watched the outer worlds trailer.

Looks awesome... but I almost fear it uses the creation engine, except for the animation looked far too good.

It's a "joke" because they're beating Beth to the punch with a sci-fi Fallout/Elderscrolls. That's it. You're overthinking everything.

Not sure what I think about the marvel ultimate alliance trailer. It looks like they changed perspective, but I’m not really sure that it’s not just to make it look cooler for the show.

But I don’t really want to play it if it’s diablo style and a beat em up makes more sense for ninja theory.

Considering the only two Nintendo IPs I give a fuck about is Pokemon and Metroid let me make this official: Anyone expecting a new Metroid game in 2XXX is setting themselves up for massive disappointment. That series has been dead for nearly a decade, with only a "remake" because a fan-remake. Let it go, sons.

I'm expecting Metroid Prime 4 because Nintendo already announced it.  :doge

If nobody from Nintendo confirmed it would be shown at this show, that's just another case of people getting all hyped up based on dumb rumors.  Look at all the people going crazy for the Avengers 4 trailer that keeps not getting shown.

Prime 4 was announced at TGA last year. So I don't think it was that insane to think there could have been a followup.

Prime 4 always seemed like such an odd announcement to make. The fourth game...in a trilogy...that ended a decade ago...and didn't sell that well in the first place?

It felt like Halo 4's weird thing where they were all IT'S TOTALLY NEW, BUT THE SAME BUT NOT, PLUS ALL YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTERS, ON A NEW WORLD FAR AWAY!

All things considered, I actually think this was a decently put together show. There weren't any celebrity guests that seemed too outlandish or just there for the money and pr. I mean I can imagine Rivers Cumo and Jonah Hill having some interests in games. And besides "nerds" probably like them. I mean there was the Alita cast being there that was obviously just an ad, but still not far off from the game audience. There was no talking down to gamers, instead an actual celebration of games. I think the show does a good job balancing it's focus on big stuff and small stuff. I mean there's only so much it can do with it an artform that has the Mortal Kombat trailer as a show piece, but I still think it has enough class and dignity for that it is.

So I actually hope this thing keeps going.

I believe it does quite well for itself. But it had more clout for those exclusive trailers during that period when there was only E3 at mid-year and it sitting at end-year. Now there's shows or presentations every month practically, Gamescom has become an equal to E3 especially with European devs, PAX is around seemingly endlessly, etc.

I think it might do better on the exclusives if it was positioned to "start the gaming year" and be the pre-E3/1stQuarter show, rather than come after the four month rush of E3/TGS/Gamescom/Blizzcon/Quakecon/etc... you know, except for that part where they want the awards out before the Christmas season.

I thought it was really good at the beginnjng, and has a good final battle, but is pretty full and dumb for large portions of the middle.

I also didn't really like the combat much. So many reskins.

Obra Dinn is fantastic. Don't sleep on it, worth playing.

It's by the Papers, Please! guy. At the very least it's one of the most interesting games released this year.

This Obsidian and The Outer Worlds? Private Division are publishing, like that arrangement with Gearbox Publishing when MS acquired Compulsion Games. Certainly disappointed at how We Happy Few turned out though,  :(

This was officially the worst year for conferences/shows/whatever the fuck game shit.  E3 blew ass (except that Cyberpunk reveal), TGS, Gamescom and PAX were  :boring , no PSX even this year, and this was the nail in the coffin....
I would've rather had the Fuck the Oscars guy back than that cringe worthy Fox guy.  That was embarrassing.  2019 couldn't get here soon enough.

Ehh, aside from the Joker dlc there were a few "OK, I'd try that" games but nothing that makes me want to drop everything for. I'm not a big fan of wrpg/fps hybrids so Obsidian's title was like ehh... and a bit over the artsy indie game stuff i.e. The Pathless.

Outside of the stellar Nintendo line-up 2019 and the early 2019 Capcom goodness 2019 will be mostly asset flips such as Far Cry until next gen rolls along in 2020.

It's cute that you think "next-gen" is not going to be asset flips.
