yeah blizzard did this with overwatch too iirc, it's just smart marketing (if you're confident enough in the product at least)
Nobody really talks about it but theres a sizeable amount of streamers that their entire presence online (social media as well) is paid for by sponsorships. There are really obvious ones like pretty girl still playing a game everyone hates weeks/months after launch but still getting hundreds of eyeballs on it but it runs subtler too. Like the ones who never cover big games or do big numbers but are always being flown out to giant press events or being asked to participate in tourneys.
