Mr. Cook, who has called privacy a “fundamental human right” and taken Facebook and Google to task for the misuse of user data in the past, could effectively become a technology regulator of last resort — using the power of Apple’s iOS operating system as a cudgel to force software companies to respect user privacy and play by the rules, or risk losing access to millions of iPhone users.

Privacy is a fundamental human right. Not feeling the need to kill yourself at your job making iPhones? Not so much!

just this week, the company was forced to shut down the FaceTime feature because of a bug that let users snoop on one another’s phones.

The correct way to protect your privacy and get reasonably priced hardware that makes sense (headphone jack, microSD slot for as much cheap storage as you want) and allows for proper customization is to use an Android device without Google account and Facebook (and without the respective browser/chat software of these companies). Problem solved.

Edit: And if you want to go even further, there is this: https://itsfoss.com/open-source-alternatives-android/

Proud not to pay idiot tax to Apple.
