Man went around hunting everyday black people with the intention to kill based simply around their race. He was a racist.

Whether or not he still is now I'm not sure. I believe people can change and own to their faults and grow from their failures. This happened decades ago.

However, Liam seems to stress more on the feelings of revenge more than the racial implications of his statement. That's not to say revenge isn't an equally important topic, but he's not framing it as,"I was a racist in the past, and I'm sorry for my past actions". No, he's instead doubling down and saying he's not a racist without understanding why people feel that what he did was racist.

As someone who used to be racist against white people, I get it. But you have to own up to the fact that you were a racist in order for this to work.

This is not what he said he did. He didn't "hunt" anyone. He did, however, hope a black guy would start some shit with him so he could kill him, with the implication being he wanted to have some kind of justification to himself/others. Now, obviously that's not a good thing either way, but he wasn't stalking black people intending to kill them because of their race. At least from what he actually said. In reality maybe he did. That's not what he said, though.

Eye emm oh there's not a ton of ethical daylight between "hoping to provoke a fight so I'll have a legal justification to kill someone" and "hoping to just kill someone."

On a side note, imagine being the marketing employee for the studio who's shepherding the actors through their press junket. "Hey boss, wanted to give you the heads up, you might be seeing some Google Alerts about this..."

I meant he wasn't "stalking" at all. You know, based on what he actually said, not what you read on RE reactions.

Ah gotcha.

But.. I dunno... wandering around multiple times hoping someone starts shit with you.. while it's not "stalking" or "hunting" it's not like it's much better.

It is better though!

Didn't he say power walking cured him of his urges?

And how Michelle Rodriguez says his lustful nature towards black women proved he wasn't a racist?

Oh no, we have to ignore all the funny shit for a stupid serious discussion about how ree'ers cant let someone change or some shit.

I mean you wouldn't know about it if he didn't tell you himself while telling you he felt bad about how irrational and horrible that frame of mind was.

Consequently, you may as well take it at face value that it was a long time ago and he knows that was horrible; it's not like he got caught for this awful thing he did that was trying to hide, and he's just making excuses.  It's also not like it left the realm of the mental.  People have terrible mental impulses sometimes; it's even understandable, really, as regards to when a friend or loved one is wronged and they feel powerless to help and want to do something.  And eventually reason prevails and you get out of that funk or... you don't and you probably need psychiatric help before someone gets hurt.

I think it has to do with Liam playing a cold blooded killer in a number of his movies.
People tend to think that the actor and their roles are the same.

Which only applies to a few actors actually like Kevin Spacey and Tom Cruise.
