Imagine caring about what people on another forum think or write.

Imagine your life sucking so much that this takes up hours of your time.

imagine a really big penis, like just this massive shlong

as you watch it starts spinning rapidly, helicoptering impossibly quickly

how can physics allow this

then the dong starts spraying cum in every direction

it gets all over everything, the desk, the lamp, Judith

why did Judith even come in here, god damnit Judith

It’s a question I’d still like an answer to.

But his feelings were hurt. That's all the evidence you need on that regard. And I hope you're not questioning his intel.

I feel like this issue is a lot bigger than comedians, though. Jokes have been a free pass for spreading bigotry for... well, probably at least as long as culture as a whole has been calling it unacceptable. It's not even a right wing this, since there are plenty of people on the left side who think it's somehow fundamentally different when they tell a racist joke than when someone else does the exact same thing but with different intent.

I actually had a dude on this forum - someone who I think has totally good intentions, albeit being naive at times - complain to me in a PM that they got banned for typing in a mock asian accent when clearly they were doing it ironically and not actually being racist. So I ended up giving him a whole explanation of how, growing up around racist white people, I also adopted that style of humour and had a rude awakening when I realized that they weren't really joking and I was just normalizing their views by laughing along with him. Hopefully he learned from it.

But it's bizarre to me because he just sent this out of the blue, and I don't know why he expected me to agree with his position. I was born in Asia, "Asian" is the box I check when job applications ask for ethnicity. Is it that he assumed that the person across the screen had to be another white guy who was also equally detached from the jokes he was telling? How is getting punished for your racist jokes not a point to reflect on?

(Although I'll add that this is a broader discussion, and Shane Gillis doesn't even have the cheap excuse of "irony" to hide behind. He's just a straightforward racist.)

Quote
Comedians really miss the 80s-90s.

"I loved being racist, homophobic and saying distinguished mentally-challenged fellow religiously as a kid. What happened to the good old days where marginalized people couldn't be heard as easily when I called them a f*****?"

Times change and sometimes you realize what you thought was in good fun was just you being a huge asshole and a lot of people can't come to terms with that.

The weirdest part about this is seeing all these comedians bitching about Gillis being fired and then seeing all the comedians I know celebrating the fact a racist didn't get a job.

I don't know if it's just because I live in a more progressive comedy city and most of my comedy contacts are younger people or what, but it's SUCH a stark difference.

When I used "they" as a way to refer to an individual on reeeeeset, Incelspreadsheet accused me of 'gender neutraling' the person and said is was weird to use it.

I like using 'they' for all people, because I can't be bothered to learn every persons pronoun and I thought it would eliminate confusion or offense. But no, nothing is ever good enough for those mentally ill rejects.

Unless I know for sure what pronouns they prefer, using they/their is all I do.

Also, I'm not going to click through to read a bio/profile to figure it out.

Times I read about preferred pronouns on the internet and the handwringing involved: 10 million times

How often did I encounter that problem in real life? Never.

I've encountered it quite a lot. The gender binary stuff never bugs me. You want your pronouns to be he/him or her/she? Great, I'll do my best to remember that.

You want to go by they/them or xir/xe or whatever? Nah. I'll just use your name when referring to you and minimize having to interact with you because you're stupid.

xir/xe?

Is that for nongender presenting asians?

Are those Invader Zim characters or something?

Feels amazing to have grown up in a time where I could listen to Eddie Murphy, Andrew Dice Clay, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Bill Hicks and not feel like I had to hate myself for laughing at their jokes.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Its one of the subjects the tell all SNL books goes into depth of. SNL producers didn't realize until they did the cold reading of the week's scripts that the guy was a total mismatch, but they were committed to getting the week's ep though.
