Resetera has always had an antisemitism problem. You can see that absolutely vile posts (like the Ubertag post I referenced before) get a slap on the wrist while the slightest transgressions against black people or trans people get met with a swift and lenghty ban.
I think the issue with ERA and the original GAF community is their lack of eloquence and precise language when speaking of Israel.  Israel does many problematic things, but they are unable to discuss this with nuance.  Everything is black or white. Hot or cold.

Heck, America is problematic. Yet imagine if every thread on the USA would be carpet-bombed with the US's many issues.

It gets annoying.  But that's Israel on ERA.

Honestly, the problem is that they're getting all their information from "woke" personalities on twitter and YouTube and don't actually understand what they're saying when they repeat what they've been told. So when asked to clarify they don't know how.

This kind of learned extremism naturally unfolds into actual bigotry at a certain point because in their heads they cannot separate the Israeli government with the Israeli people. I pressed multiple members on this exact point and they all had various answers along the lines of "Israel is inherently apartheid because reasons". So when Nintendo expands it's business into Israel instead of being happy for Israeli gamers they are affronted that Israel would support a "state" like that.

I wonder if part of the reasoning in the ban was me mentioning Netanya in the OP. It’s a resort city and there are like 2 popular gamestores there. I think one of them is called Genesis games, and while they have been more legit over the years, they still have bootlegs.

But yeah, I wonder if part of the reason was that someone misread Netanya as Netanyahu.

 ???

Not like it matters or we'll ever know mind you.

I hope not. I don’t want anyone causing trouble. Besides, I accept that I am just not well liked, justifiably or not. It’s not like I wasn’t going to ask for a perm in May anyways, I just wanted to keep my word on the Sonic thread, despite it helping generate the site more ad revenue.

So yeah, if anyone is reading this, don’t start shit. If you don’t like a community, just don’t post.

I think ERA is going to blow up like GAF eventually.  It's crazy how similar the arc is.

This reminds me of this one Jewish poster who would post in the Asian thread because Israel was technically on the Asian continent and that qualified him to post as an Asian.

You know technically Europe isn't a continent. It is part of the same land mass as Asia. So maybe Europeans can post in the Asian thread too.

Actually articulating how Huelen was trolling would them be admitting they can't control the anti-semitism on their site.

I was going to do the Team Sonic Racing thread and then request the perm myself. Why? Because I said I’d make the thread and I wanted to follow through with my original promise, even though it meant generating more ad revenue for them because you know my threads get a LOT of views, which means more money for them.

Yeah, that Team Sonic Racing OT was gonna be a real moneymaker

The second is a list of the avengers: https://pastebin.com/gCbcd4ZC

Why do they have to do everything in the most boring, anticlimactic way possible?

They are xenophobic as fuck towards Eastern European people who live under corrupt and/or semi-dictatorship governments, because of the actions of their governments. So what makes you think they would approach with any sort of nuance an Israeli society that is legitimately racist despite being an advanced country with a functioning democracy?

People aren’t obligated to like people. If people don’t like me, that’s their issue, not my problem. Again, it’s all about respect. We can’t force people to respect others, it must come from within. More people means more views, means more ways to see things, which means more content which means more ad revenue, which means more money.

If someone got boned, it sure wasn’t me.

All of my viewpoints have been based on reason and research. If someone makes a claim on Twitter, I'll follow the chain of information until I get to the source and try to pick it apart. It seems like most ERA posters don't do this, they just accept claims as fact and amplify them for performative reasons. Not to go all horseshoe theory on y'all but I imagine most extremist communities are the same. You only get real notice by being more extreme than the other extremists so only the most insane rhetoric bubbles to the top.

Depends on your point of views. It’s the same reasoning fan sites and fan wikis exists, some people happen to be passionate about a piece of commercial media and want to talk about it and share it with the world. Nothing inherently wrong with that. At the same time, I can completely see where you are coming from.

Heh I dunno. There's definitely some horrendous messages ("Probably another grift by a nation of grifters" about an Israeli lab optimistic they'll find a "cancer cure" soon is the one that stuck with me) but I think a lot of it is the lack of nuance mentioned with regards to any discussion about Israel and wokeness biting its own tail but without malice (most of the time). Same with most of the casual sudden eruptions of xenophobia.

PoliERA posters twisting some insane pretzel logic to minimize Jewishness as an official minority so that they could label Bernie Sanders "just another old white male" was really nasty though.

Random thought: Resetera is often ridiculous with their warning/ban headers, but at least they let you know when/what you did "wrong". Reddit, on the other hand, is such a passive-aggressive place, with their habit of "shadow removing" stuff (that is, making a comment or post invisible to everyone except the author).

Fair enough.

I think a site’s culture is the tone set by the mods. Then you have certain sycophantic power posters that will basically be in that mod’s ear as long as they abide by their belief system. Add that in with what I think is an internal “ban game” system to see how many people they can bring down by baiting and dogpiling and you get this extremist discussion board.

Fox News is pretty much a dangerous propaganda channel now and a major risk to democracy with its willingness to support even fascism as long as it comes from the right and lie and cheat in order to support it. Obviously laws can't stop them and a law that would may not be a good idea anyway. But what about using capitalism? Would it possible for e.g. Bill Gates to buy the channel outright and shut it down (or turn it into e.g. a nature documentary channel)? Of course the propagandists wouldn't just stop talking but they'd get scattered and lose reach. Kinda like the far right moving from Twitter, Patreon and Gofundme to short lived versions like Gab, Hatreon and Goyfundme which made it harder for them to reach the recruitable masses.

"im not owned! im not owned!"
While u r here can you add some hot daddies to the Instagram thread thx

mentioning jews

resetti sure has a powerful hate site going there. they hate jews, love mob justice, pray for the death of their enemies, demand puritanical regulations on women's bodies and wardrobe, and are constantly angry.
