Yeah, when you don't care about ethics, you can go super far. Honestly, I wouldn't put it past them to secretly use humans for testing.

They are probably thinking Fuck it, they were gonna be executed anyways. Why not infect them with some super virus and see what happens?

https://www.resetera.com/threads/trump-tweets-spliced-together-video-of-ilhan-omar-and-9-11.111240/post-19826739
Quote from: B-Dubs
OFFICIAL STAFF COMMUNICATION
While we don't shield public figures or politicians from criticism, this particular campaign is transparently motivated by bigotry. Please treat this incident as a separate and distinct incident and do not use this thread to relitigate other comments she has made.

This thread is for the racist attacks a congresswoman is receiving and nothing else. Please stay on topic.

Quote
So now we're not allowed to discuss context of the issue in the wider scope of ongoing Omar incidents? or how Dem
leadership is failing, leaving her to get attacked, only paying lip service when it's convenient, and at times even providing the right with ammo? Just want clarification cause it seems like this contradicts previous staff statements.
Quote
The problem is that it is hard to tallk about it in isolation, without the history of her allies that left her for the wolves and/or participated in attacking her and the special interests that are out to get her.

Just weeks ago members of her own party went to a pro isreal lobby conference where the entire event was all about attacking her.

Ya, the racist king and his people targeting her now is the title of the thread, but it’s not the full context.
Quote
There is waaaay more discussion around this topic than simply the lane the mods seemingly want us to stay in. SO many things are interrelated and discussion will naturally flow to different aspects of this topic. Trying to mod this discussion in this way, it’s very odd...
Quote
Not sure how talking about the democrats is off topic. Same democrats that allowed this to happen.

It is too connected to call it off topic.
Quote
So are we just suppose to ignore how the dems throwing Omar under the bus constantly is why the situation has progressed to this point?

What the fuck are we supposed to talk about???
Quote
I hope the intention of the staff post is to target “she has it coming” type posts and not posts about Democrat responses
Quote
Man, fuck off with this bullshit. We're here because of all that happened before, this IS the topic.
Quote
So context is irrelevant. Only talk about Trump and his fascism, but completely ignore that Omar's own party has repeatedly thrown her under the bus, emboldening the attack(s) and bigotry against her, as a whole. Gotcha.
Quote
The context surrounding it and the repercussions of the tweet are a part of the topic. The tweet itself doesn't exist in isolation.
Quote
On a scale of one to ten how racist is Donald Trump.

Let's stay on topic guys. It's gonna be really productive.

Damn me and showing polls and articles telling people their rising stars aren't actually universally received by the mass population!

I am the ills of this nation, see me force endless status quo of destruction as I participate in every single election I legally could as I watch my peers never vote as they bitch and complain about Republicans winning the Senate in 2014 and the GOP gaining complete control in 2016.
You know what, fuck this. I am literally collapsing in mental stress from the news that I have a high chance of not living past 2020 and you're here implying you're the true victim. I'm sorry that I complained about the democratic party, even though I proudly voted for them all times without question. Clearly I deserve this illness and death. Why bother trying to fix myself when people like you keep using me as a stepping stone or a blame tool for your own purposes? Why bother doing anything? I'm better to you as a prop dead since at least I won't be an inconvenient voice against you.

It's working. A ton of kids at schools only hear Fox News. I had to argue with a 12 year old that she "was secretly a spy". This is how it starts. In 8 years, these teens will be adults and will have an inherent distrust of AOC and will never be able to explain why, just know that she's untrustworthy no matter what.

How often has Kenny Loggins annexed Alsace-Lorraine?
How many of Bismarck‘s songs became hits that were featured in 80‘s movies?

See, it‘s the best of both worlds.

I see AOC on my Facebook feed so fucking much, despite being Australian and not really following people based on politics. It's always short videos of her making extremely "consumer-friendly" progressive talking points. Points I agree with, but goddamn. She nearly talks down to the audience as much as John Oliver. Is this politics now? We just keep dumbing down the discourse until even the dumbest American can understand it? I guess those people vote too, but fuck I find it depressing. If catering to the lowest common denominator is the most effective way of informing the electorate and driving the public debate, I don't like what it says about human in general

Oh god John Oliver. He was funny for 5 minute bits on the Colbert show. Whoever told him to turn that into a full show really hates this planet.
"Oopsie daisy Mr. Trumpy or DRUMPFY as I call him today made a FUNNY"

And Colbert's 'new' calling as late night host who calls Trump an asshole every night while his piano guy does "boop boop" has also grown stale after episode 2.
I can see why he did it though. There's really no effort in what he's doing now compared to the meta level comedy he did with the Colbert Report.

It was fucking dumb when the actual UN ambassadors and politicians started using hashtag diplomacy which did fucking nothing.

#StandWithYemen

The politicians really have themselves to thank for this taking off because they made it look like it actually did anything.
The Kony 2012 thing was sort of the canary in the coalmine of where the world was headed. A hashtag thing started to stop something that could't possibly be ended with internet activism.
And the guy that organized it losing his mind and running around naked

And even though Angelina Jolie tried to set him up, Kony still roams free. Who would've known.

Call me a cynic, but my first guess would be that a medical claim stated only in a single book buried 3 pages deep in a list and not common knowledge to trained medical professionals is less the result of The Patriachy and more the result of medical hypothesis as taught to medical practitioners having to have gone through a rigorous process of peer review and analysis of claims prior to being taught as established fact, in a way that people writing direct to public for profit self help books do not.

It's disappointing looking at how recent films of things with video games (whether game adaptations, or the converse) seem much better at getting more people in them.

Like Detective Pikachu, the game, stars another white kid as its protagonist, whereas Justice Smith is the main kid in the movie.
Dwayne Johnson was the lead role in Rampage. While the games are different, in that there is no real human lead, the monsters are mutated white guys.
And of course, Rey is the protagonist of the latest Star Wars movies.

While movies are working to have all kinds of starring roles, whereas white guys still seem to be the default in games.

:dunno

..and I'm pretty fucking sure that "white kid" in Detective Pikachu is actually "Animu Japanese Kid".

So factually wrong on two of the three examples you actually chose to cite.

I'm confused as to why reaction threads aren't allowed, surely posting any trailer and saying what do you think? Is a reaction thread..

I mean just look at the fallen order thread, pages upon pages of users getting really upset, until mods have to make a VERY IMPORTANT staff post.

I'm beginning to think that they specifically used that forum software to ensure maximum power for the mods.

No wonder poor Sweet Nicole had to say goodbye,

it must be utterly exhausting having to read pages upon pages of reports and then cross checking with every minority group to ensure the committee of REE are happy.

Well that and ensuring Steam threads never took over the whole damn board. The amount of bans they dish out for trivial shit surely will make the forum self implode soon right?

I would love to know the amount of "clear" members they have. POST STATS YOU COWARDS.

Abled cishet white men aren't even half the people in the world (let alone a country like America), somehow, are 90+% of video game protagonists? And some of you are mad that maybe it should be proportional, for starters?

:dunno

I'm pretty sure that more than 90% of videogames don't even have anything that can recognisably be termed "a protagonist" in the first place

Know it’s not the kind of diversity people are asking for, but I wouldn’t call it common either. Only other redhead gaming icon I can think of is Aloy. I know, it’s far from the same sort of thing; just an observation.

As a generic white dude, it’s still a bit of a downer to be constantly reminded that I’m boring, obsolete and no longer welcome to the party but I’m slowly getting used to it.

Eh... the kid in Detective Pikachu is also called Tim in the japanese version.

Maybe I'm wrong on that one then, but its still a reach to make the claim that Japanese developers make 'white men' by default, and it says more about that persons cultural biases that they see an ambiguously coloured cartoon character made in an entirely different culture as "white" as their default interpretation

I don’t think they make “white men” by default (is more complicated than that) but in this particular example everyone has anglo names. In other Pokemon games they change Japanese names in localization but this one was already like that from the start.

I suppose that is one the reasons why Hollywood is adapting Detective Pikachu first given that is already a pretty western friendly game.

The film looks way better than the game, though.

Tiger's last major win before this was almost right at the exact time ironman 1 came out. Now his newest win is right before endgame.
