I didn’t even know someone could register in a meme political party.

In California you can only register as having a party preference so in Nancy Pelosi's district the ballot says that she merely has a party preference for the Democratic Party in the candidate information. It's kind of funny tbh.

in that AA History class I lamented during a group project (during the traditional opening gathering of sharing of grievances with the course/professor/etc. that officially starts all group projects) how the class was actually a White People Do Things To Blacks History course as it never once covered blacks as if they had any agency of their own as human beings, not even to mention world famous ones like Frederick Douglass or WEB Du Bois, let alone anyone that might mentioned in the book like say... Settlers

and nobody in the group understood :fbm

for the standard "write anything you want" seven page or so undergraduate paper I wrote about Booker T. Washington's attempts to work his way into white society that eventually got him "kicked out of the movement", the prof wrote that he wasn't sure how much of it was "African American history" since I felt I had to explain who some of the cacs beyond Teddy Roosevelt were

semi-friend wrote a paper listing all of the Black Codes that Georgia passed, got an A+ for "great original research"

 :wow

guess that's what happens when you let a Freelance Journalist teach History courses (no really, that's what the guy described his job as*), all my Hobbes issues trace back to the travails of undergrad :brazilcry

mostly I want to see what kind of 1950's capitalist hellscapes they'll paint of Seoul or Japan

Dying at your peak cac in that class, benji-kun.
I was actually most upset at the other students because the class was nothing but slavery slavery slavery slavery slave trade slavery like in high school and they all talked about how amazing it was to learn all the horrible things black people went through that they never learned about to the white professor who would say "you were never thought this in high school but black people were slaves" for like twelve weeks straight. We seriously spent two weeks on DUTCH slave traders and read a bunch from one of their diaries even though it was the same thing "went to africa, got some slaves, put em on a ship, made shillings wished it wasn't so dangerous in these olden times to cross the seas" for half of it. :maf

I admit it's totally on the nose, but the Booker T. Washington was standard benji heisting off stuff in a prior class to avoid having to do any actual research beyond finding enough sources to cite, "Civil Rights Movement" under poli sci department taught by an old black dude, he started with Booker T. and WEB "cuz they were the first rich free niccas trying to truly free other niccas"

he really liked to say that word, and also not grade anything but hand it off to a TA

both things upset a surprising number of cacs in the class for some reason

they made him retire the next year

The Korean poli sci prof I had for a couple courses liked to talk about the CPC "students" he met in the 1970s who ran drugs and had like 30 Chinese undocumented citizens living in an apartment they owned here. And also this one time he got in a bar fight and came back with a gun to kill the dude but he was gone.

Yeah, he always seemed a bit too regretful that he didn't get to kill this random dude. :lol

Also he was weirdly defensive about the pre-1988 South Korean regime. Though he wouldn't have been old enough to have been part of it, his father might have. He didn't like that they made a "comedy" out of the assassination in President's Last Bang.

These people have been hacks and their videos painfully unfunny since the channels inception. I'm glad people are finally willing to talk shit about them, but it should have been happening way before they started spreading the gospel of their fellow shitcunt youtubers.

I'm not saying them stanning absolute pieces of garbage isn't worse than just being another couple of untalented shitstained youtubers, because obviously it is. But their videos were IQ hemorrhaging garbage from the start, and to see people post and bolster each and every video they released so hard that they apparently all deserved their own thread disgusted me (and I guess things haven't changed since they still get one every time).

Maybe we can get a sick call out to Jordan Peterson next vid! I know the boyfriend of this channel is a Joe Rogan fan so clearly he knows an intellectual when he sees one.

how did we miss this important discussion? https://www.resetera.com/threads/going-forward-i-hope-nintendo-doesnt-stick-to-the-main-character-first-for-the-super-smash-bros-roster.127498/
Quote
One of Super Smash Bros's biggest problems is a complete lack of PoC/women representation.

Besides the "avatar" characters (Inklings, Mii, Villagers), the only humanoid characters that aren't white/adjacent are Ryu (being Japanese) and Ganondorf (being a Gerudo, who are largely inspired by Middle Eastern people).
Female representation is a bit better, but still much worse than the number of males.
Someone here did a thread on representation seen among fighting games this gen, and I believe Super Smash Bros was worst in every metric.

A large part of this is due to the lack of non-white characters among Nintendo (and 3rd party) game leads.
Like in the case of The Legend of Zelda, there are other Gerudo (like Urbosa) that are now very iconic for the franchise, or Sheikah like Impa, who has always been a series mainstay.
However, they've only elected to focus on the main 3 characters of the franchise.

Now many might argue that they should only use the characters that are the biggest, but Super Smash Bros is a bigger franchise than most of the series represented, and more often than not, makes those characters the icons they are now, rather than the other way around.
For instance, in the case of F-Zero, people know Captain Falcon now, but that's largely due to the Super Smash Bros series. Instead of just using Captain Falcon though, they could've instead used Kate Alen or someone else. Let's be honest, nobody knew Captain Falcon before Super Smash Bros.

Other crossover fighting games, or guest characters in fighting games don't just limit themselves like this.
Like in Tekken, we see characters like characters like Geese and Negan instead of Terry or Rick.
Let's not forget that Morrigan was not the main character of the Darkstalkers franchise, but has become the face of the franchise due to Capcom's crossover games.

So in future Super Smash Bros games, I'd much rather see Wonder Black or Twintelle over Wonder Red or Spring Man. Not saying these franchises will be represented, but should they use franchises with a rich cast, I really hope they don't limit themselves to just more white guys.
when Nintendo gets back from July 4th Weekend they have a lot to explain...

I guess the idea is that so-called apolitical games are laced with implicit bias and you need to be self conscious to start seeing it. More realistically perhaps, forcing creators to acknowledge it means they can no longer retreat behind this stock PR point to deny and stonewall a lot of meaningful discourse that could be happening (in interviews). Well, that's the optimistic outcome, because I think the cynically enclined Bire shitlord might suspect the "meaningful discourse" will be more along the lines of hounding creators to conform to their politically correct standard. Rightly or wrongly, the apolitical song and dance keep a lot of worms cans closed (notably access to investors and markets).
