Who Are Your Top 5 Favorite Presidents?

What are you 5 favorite(NOT BEST MIND YOU!) US presidents in history? It doesn't matter if they were horrible. One rule of thumb, do not list washington. The only reason people ever mention him is because they are too dumb to know any others and because he was the first one. It's like listing Pong as your favorite video game. So GO:

Here are mine:
1. Teddy Roosevelt

The best. The REAL maverick republican. He was tough but one of the best enviromentalists in the white house. He even ran as a president under a third party (BULL MOOSE) and did better than the republican! So awesome.

2. FDR

I don't care if he hated blacks! He beat Hitler WHILE IN A WHEELCHAIR. You gotta give it up for someone who can defeat the Nazi's and be a cripple.

3. Thomas Jefferson

He fucked his slave. I dunno why but that is awesome. And he wrote a little important document you may know of.

4. Andrew Jackson

I have no clue why I love this guy, I just do. He killed native americans and shot guys. What a badass.

5. Lyndon Johnson

Yes, yes I know Vietnam. But this guy had the best domestic policy of any president in recent history. Plus he was just a awesome guy and he knew how to deal with congress like no other. He even grabbed a senator and held him up against a wall to get him to vote how he wanted once! Oh and he stated the smartest thing any Democrat ever said. While signing the bill to give full civil rights to african americans with MLK Jr. at his side "We have lost the South for a generation.". The Democrats did lose the south for this. Fucking racists in the south, GET OVER IT ALREADY!

In my eyes Teddy is the greatest president in our country's history. He was a giant of a man in every way. Before becomming president he was a brave - almost reckless - soldier unafraid of death. As a politician he wasn't afraid to court business while still listening to the concerns of progressive environmentalists. He didn't back down from the "robber barons" of the day, and he was one of the first presidents to understand the importance of having a strong naval presense in the world. Yet in all of these areas one thing remained the same with Teddy - he never comprimised his ideals or integrity.

Harry Truman


I don't know if I'd put him second, but he came to mind first. Truman is perhaps best known for making the hardest decision in American history since Lincoln's decision to stand up to the south - the dropping of the atomic bomb. At the time it was seen as the right thing to do but in recent history a wave of revisionist history has attempted to slander the decision as inhuman and no different than some of the other atrocities of WWII. As usual this group of people fails to take into consideration the situation, and they're grossly mistaken. While the bomb's effects were devastating for Japan, not dropping the bomb would have been even more devastating not only to Japan but to the US - as one historian said, the reason your grandfather is alive today is perhaps due to Truman's decision.

While "the bomb" will forever be tied to his presidency, Truman should also be remembered for his domestic policy as well as his pursuit of making the US a superpower in world affairs - for the better.

LBJ is such a complicated president. On one hand his domestic policy is legendary and made him many enemies in the south. Yet on the other hand he ignored the "warning signs" (and that's saying it nicely) of the Gulf of Tonkin and caved in to the pressure to escalate the war in Vietnam.

For that I couldn't put him in the top 5. Although I hate the fact he's gone down in history as one of the worse presidents. If people were fair and not so emotional they'd admit LBJ deserves much of the credit JKF gets undeserved.

Ah, I don't like Kennedy at all. He was a great speaker, and had good ideas I suppose, but he's the posterboy for the whole talk a good talk/do nothing type of politician. Sadly these types are making a comeback in the form of Obama and Edwards, who really have no national accomplishments to their name yet inspire millions with their vague, emotionaly powerful speeches. And I want to like both of them. Hell, I'll probably wind up voting for one of them.

1. FDR - I really admire the way he patched the government up, and started emphasis on social programs that most likely wouldn't be here today without him.

2. LBJ. Kennedy had that fucking civil rights bill on his desk at the time of his death. He can rot in hell. LBJ's civil rights leadership gained respect from me. Vietnam or not.

3. Andrew Jackson. All American BAD ASS. That's all I gotta say.

4. Teddy. I think I could place him higher, along side LBJ, but Andrew Jackson deserves some credit. Teddy is one of the reasons we became a super power, and his diligent military procedures helped the country for the better.

Ike is ahead of JFK on my top 10 favorite though.  Final 5 would be Woodrow Wilson, Truman, lincoln(over-rated but deserves a spot), Eisenhower, then JFK

Ike was the last of the great classical grandfather-esque president's.
