i know it bothers a lot of people, but it doesn't bother me. steam is just an intermediary application i use to hit play. shit, i mostly just use windows key, first few characters of name, enter to boot a game. it's just another background process mayn. if it means developers get more money, and have more incentive to make popular new ip seems like a win vs. having a unified storefront. in the worst case: i don't see this stifling development.

I mean the people who it *does* bother are the general buying public and without a thriving userbase RL2 isnt going anywhere, so it kinda should bother you for the health of the game you want to play.

Epic MegaFail

DOS era Epic was Magic.

Everything since has been :fbm

I just want a Jazz Jackrabbit 3 and Epic Pinball 2. But knowing Chinese Spyware overlords, it'd be exclusive to their Chinese Spyware leaky seeve of a security application.

I just want my achievements and hours played in one location if Discord or whatever can handle that I don’t give a fuck where I’m buying / pushing play from.

idc about rocket league man. i don't like the valve stanning. steam fanbois are chad warden 2.0. devs need money, someone offers to give them more money agreeing to some terms on distribution. makes sense. valve aren't angels, steam isn't perfect, competition incentivises growth.

if people really hold out on egs because it's controlled by evil chinese corporation taking gabens dollars, they'll stop paying for the exclusives eventually and valve will continue the monopoly happily. at the moment it kinda seems like when M$ got the gooch and others to make jrpgs to trojan the 360 into japan. yeah, it didn't work in the long run, but it incentivised a bunch of games we likely wouldn't have gotten otherwise . the only meaningful difference to the consumer here being, it's an arbitrary piece of free software people are boycotting because "features" and platform loyalty  :lol

I'd be a huge epic cheerleader if they formed new studios or funded projects that wouldnt be funded otherwise, but that's not what they're doing :fbm

Devs need money

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Psyonix has earned millions on DLC and keys. Fuck off with that bullshit. Such poor indie devs scraping to get by! Same with Gearbox! Randy is literally having to scrap by on toast and water.

Steam = monopoly  :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

goddang some of yall are dumb as fuck

Quote
No more Workshop and custom mods / maps for the the game.
No more trading / new / legacy ingame items for the game.
Probably no cross-play between EGS and Steam players.

Get out with that "won't affect those who bought the game already" shitposting.

Quote
When you equate people complaining to pay their games 10 to 20 dollars more, not being able to share their games, not having cloud saves, heck in some cases even locked out because of their region, to fanboyism, you dont sound really clever in the whole conversation.

Nevermind the fact that Psyonix is not responding to Rocket League users legitimate questions

https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/bjleng/psyonix_is_joining_the_epic_family/

Some of yall are acting like this is positive for consumers. It really isn't. Epic doesn't offer a single thing that's positive to you as a consumer.

Steam has ease of use, ease of access, lots of features that help devs as well as consumers, fair pricing to what they offer developers, the ability to purchase games on other stores with a discount and generally has earned it's good will and reputation through hard work improving their store and client. And on top of that, a userbase that is actually purchasing games. Whereas not even 10% of the users on EGS have bothered to download the free games.

Come back to me when EGS is even on 1% of those features, with friendly competition instead of buying up studios just so you can get their game on your store.

Disengenous bullcrap.

I don't stan for any store-front. But I'm not going to stand for Epic trying to exclusive shit while their security is shit (hi breaking 2factor accounts!) and don't have half the features of Steam.

I rake Uplay and Origin over this same shit. You want to be competition? Fine. But you need to have the features/parity and have the fucking security to back it up.

What warrior. I am a consumer who is looking out for his self interests. I don't give a fuck about Valve.

Good luck to all devs who bring their game exclusively to EGS, where noone is buying any products.

Instead let's look at indie devs like Risk of Rain 2 bringing in over a million sales in early access on Steam :)

Unsurprising, after Anno 1800 and Division 2. Makes me wonder how shit Uplay adoption is for them to still use someone else's store in addition to their own.

As long as i can buy keys from 3rd party stores, i'm good.
Why would you buy a Uplay game on Steam anyway? Then you have 2 clients open at all times.
Also, UPlay works just fine.

Actually, you're going to get an X-box key instead, because they paid us LOADS OF MONEY to make it exclusive there.

What's the problem? Just buy an X-box and shut the fuck up, bitch! <3

It is pretty garbage that they went to the fans for the initial funding then turned around and took an Epic money hat for an exclusive release on EGS.

Aren't most Kickstarter games looking for publishers/investors these days? Kickstart to prove viability, then ask for an actual budget from a suit.

Buying a new console is prohibitively expensive for some people, whereas Epic and Steam are both PC applications. Am I wrong?

https://gamerant.com/ghost-recon-breakpoint-steam-pc/
Quote
Like previous Ubisoft titles’ Anno 1800 and The Division 2, Ghost Recon Breakpoint on PC will only be available on two platforms: Ubisoft’s service Uplay or the Epic Games Store.
Which means, like the previous games that were only on Steam and uPlay, they're actually just on uPlay anyway and you should just buy those keys unless you're weird.

uPlay keys are still wildin out all over resellers constantly getting discounts so this is the least concerning set of Epic Game Store situations. Especially since you don't need EGS at all.

Since I re-purchased Rainbow Six Siege to get out of launcher/file recheck/etc. hell with Steam/uPlay and upgrade from the starter edition it's like with Origin, a one publisher situation now for me. Only, that uPlay keys are sold basically everywhere. So it's better than Origin usually. Also ubisoft remembers more often that they have a back library to toss out for $2 every so often.

uPlay also autodetects versions from elsewhere like GOG. So like if I wanna install and play Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time or even 2008, I just install it on GOG, and it's there in uPlay and just launches the game as if it was GOG but with the uPlay overlay available. (2008 doesn't work with the Steam overlay and never has for some reason.) Register your Steam keys and you get "clean" uPlay installs on your account. You couldn't run the Steam versions after ACII without uPlay anyway.

uPlay is arguably the second best option after Steam since they sell the keys elsewhere and anywhere, GOG keeps those close to the vest for obvious reasons, so like Origin, I'll bump uPlay up a tad, especially when they dump keys on me through Humble.

how, how dare they even challange steam with their primitive platform skills, they're as gud as ded. I saw tim sweeney reading steam user review bombs and he was crying. Crying and making women gestures  :'( :'( breaking down.

Don't even get me started on these scurrilous devs. DOes gabens good willl account for nothing? Steam is the most immaculate, well curated platform, their style is impetuous, their defense impenetrable. Gabens ferocious, he want your heart, he eat your children. PRAISE BE TO ALLAH
