You have absolutely no clue how much money and support Epic offered them, what their financial situation was that led them to that decision, etc. though.

And Steam has thousands and thousands of games competing for attention;  and EGS has millions of users and growing w/ far less products competing for attention... so again, you have no clue how this business decision will effect the franchise.

Exclusivity hurts total sales, which is why third parties need a big money hat to do it in the first place
Exclusivity that explicitly fucks over people who kickstarted a game hurts total sales, because they are going to vocally shit on it at every opportunity and it is terrible PR
Nobody was interested in funding shenmue 3 in the first place, which is why they took sony moneyhats and ran a kickstarter, and when it flops the franchise is dead.
They're sure as fuck not getting a successful kickstarter for shenmue 4 after how they handled this.

When Ubi mentioned Stadia I realized that Phil got jack shit for Stadia which makes it look like a Nintendo product. 
However this seems to be the case because everyone wants to push their own subscription service instead.

As for Epic. At first it looked like they were doing strategic exclusives but now they're just throwing money at whatever.
This E3 is a bunch of good games drowned in a clusterfuck of subscriptions, asset flips, DLC, mobile games no one wants and celebrities.

Let's see what Nintendo brings to the table.

-Luigi Mansion 3 = 6 minutes of explaining what the vacuum does
-Zelda Remake = 6 minutes
-Labo VR 2 = 2 minutes
-Smash DLC = 4 minutes of details on what each move does
-Splatoon puzzle game (aka dr mario) for Android = 3 minutes
-Indie sizzle real = 5 minutes
-Animal crossing = 5 minutes and it become clear it's essentially an HD port of City Folk but there are micro transactions
-Switch Music Maraca Edition - 2 minutes
-Teaser cgi bullshit for Metroid = 1 minute

- Animal Crossing is but hey look it's Happy Home Designer for Switch this holiday!

Main events will be Smash DLC, the Marvel game, Luigi's Mansion and Zelda Link's Awakening.
Maybe a surprise or two like a Pikmin 4, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3 and/or Zelda BOTW 2 teaser.
