Android without Google (Services/Store/Maps etc): microG
« on: June 08, 2019, 01:39:44 AM »
I discovered this project yesterday, and it's quite amazing, which is why I'm sharing it with you:
microG aims to fully replace Google’s proprietary Android user space apps and libraries, making Android completely independent and open source.
The project is ongoing and according to its creator is well funded, but it's a small operation where one man does most of the work.
It absolutely deserves more attention to grow into something larger, as it offers a real alternative to Google's ever increasing dominance/control and invasion of privacy.

Installing microG requires a rooted Android device. Presumably it should work well in combination with LineageOS.
