Copa America + Copa Oro 2019 Thread
« on: June 18, 2019, 01:42:07 PM »
This is where we discuss the biggest tournaments for CONCACAF and CONMEBOL.

As of this posting, Argentina has gotten wrecked and the USA is on the cusp of getting destroyed by Guyana.

Enjoy!

Romania still beating Croatia at the Under 21 Euros is quite the upset.

France-England will be a good one tonight. :aah

Why are Japan and Qatar playing at the Copa America?

What is this, Eurovision?

CONMEBOL is mad at CONCACAF so no invite.

Qatar probably bribed someone to get some practice games in.

Brazil is home to the largest population of Japanese outside of Japan + has a history of Copa America appearances.

Been out of the loop, what are the big teams currently apart from Brazil and Argentina (which I guess are "inherently" the strongest and / or in a periodic crisis) ?

France is fucking loaded and will be for a long time.
Outside of them.
Germany is kinda in a transition period right now, but will be right there at next years Euros.
Spain is always loaded when it comes to individual talent
England looks to have a bright future
Italy is looking a lot better recently
Netherlands also look like they have righted the ship.
Portugal has maybe one more run in them next year, same for Croatia.
Belgium is also pretty good on paper.
Serbia has some impressive youth level talent, don‘t think though they will be ready for 2020.

(Sorry, but thanks to have taken the time to write it up.)

Chile and Clombia had really good teams, but are now in a transition period.
Uruguay is still pretty good, but some of their stars are getting up there in age.
Outside of that it‘s pretty dire in South America.
Actually, the whole state of South American football right now is not great.

Mexico has always been the definition of meh and the USA is kinda bad. The other teams in north and central america  are not really worth mentioning.

we only really have enough homos for one football thread so inevitably any thread for a specific footy event will just morph into it.

Both games don‘t look great on paper. Let‘s use the scientific method.

Venezuela sucks, but Guyana is a hundred times worse.
Brazil‘s national team hasn‘t been great lately, but the US team has never been great.

You should watch the Brazil game Q.E.D.
