:bolo

Imma get:

-Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet Complete Edition
-Astral Chain (getting the LE version from YUROP)
-Omega Labyrinth Life (Japan/Asia)
-The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors (CE limited run version)

Might get:

-Friday The 13th: The Game - Ultimate Slasher Switch Edition
-Killer Queen Black
-Dead Or School (Japan)
-Metal Wolf Chaos XD
-Oninaki (will likely get this but might wait for a sale.  Depends on how available the physical version is)

Oh yeah- just like with Hollow Realization, Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet is getting a physical release in Europe.  All the usual importers have it for pre-order.

Yeah...  :doge  That's when I got it on mine and fucked around with the character creator.  It struggled on the laptop, but moreso, it was not controller friendly at all...

I wanna say the price hike is due to it being the "remastered version" they've ported, besides Sony being Sony.

Also when I backed the fuck out of Friday the 13th back in the day, not knowing if I'd ever play it (just because I love the IP and the game seemed full of great ideas), I didn't anticipate it coming to the ultimate Nintendo system. Feels like a game that exists just for me. :rejoice

Even the boxart is made for me. :rejoice

I'd like to play Astral Chain, but i don't have a Switch.
I'd like to play Control, but i don't have time for a Metroidvania, and don't want to spend 40€ on it anyway.

I'll get around to both though, eventually (unless they get destroyed in reviews).

Checked out a video on the Xboner version of Black Desert-- it's apparently way less grindy, which is good, and you can just do quests and get to the end of the game without the need for much else.  That's kinda cool.  Just not really interested in dropping more than $10 on it when it's that cheap on PC.

Control is a metroidvania?   :thinking  I may need to peek at some previews then.

It sounds like it might be a "metroidvania" in the same way that Arkham Asylum was a "metroidvania," AKA "not really but you can go back and find some stuff here and there."   :doge

I bet it's going to look like ass (it didn't look so hot on PS4), but it's a fun game.

EDIT: Actually looks better on there than I thought it would.

I got 2/3rds thru a hard mode Arkham Asylum playthru before stopping. I beat it many years ago, and imo, Arkham City does everything better.

In Asylum, I got to the part where you have to destroy Poison Ivy pods that shoot auto tracking plant missiles. Before this downward spiral in quality, its felt like:

 Battle area
Stealth area
Batle area
Stealth area
Stealth area
Scan objects
Cutscene

Story progression and XP unlock new abilities and content. Exploration away from the main goal in Asylum nets you Riddler stuff, giving you xp and side content.

Metroidvanias reward exploration in more drastic, better ways. New weapons that can be op or have a unique moveset. You can try to break the game using gear and exploits, something I don't know if possible in Asylum.

The Arkham games as a series are character action vehicular stealth games.

Arkham City has a similar forumla, but it starts closer to Asylum's entire skill tree for Batman's abilities, almost from the start of the game. The more cohesive open world map and art design helps a lot too.

Getting Astral Chain even though the vids aren't don't anything for me. Still will give every Platinum games title at least a shot, but probably throwing it in the backlog until I've had time to play DMCV first.

Control seems like a great game I will play mid-next year for free on Xbox Game Pass and will be a reason to upgrade my GPU. I still need to play Quantum Break.

I mean: https://steamcharts.com/cmp/381210,438740

Maybe console folks are more than the 100 players or so F13th gets. But that's pretty shockingly low when compared to like DbD's 24-25,000.

Maybe the "Nintendo Tax" of having a game in a genre that Nintendo never had before (eg: DbD not being on the Shitch) means Andy-kun will have more than 100 players, probably. But... F13th died pretty fast, DbD is still getting support and that's why I'm dunking on him for kickstarting an absolute loser.

Joking aside, i guess my distinction would be that in one, you unlock keys to access previously closed off areas (Resident Evil, Silent Hill etc), in the other, you unlock abilities that function both as combat/traversal mechanics, as well as opening up new areas.

If Resident Evil had a double jump unlock, instead of a Sword Key unlock, i'd classify it as a Metroidvania.
