I think what puts Frasier over for me is all the episodes of Fraiser (and/or) Niles getting into petty schemes/dinner parties/whatever no matter how many times they went to the well

This is the sequence in Frasier (Season 3, Episode 9) in which (an) EarthBound box(es) are visible on-camera as Frasier and Niles Crane shop at a toy store for "The Living Brain" for Frederick (in my opinion, they should've been shopping for EarthBound).  This is one of EarthBound's very few TV appearances.

I think the special vault they had to build to hold all the Emmy's and SAG nominations it racked up pretty much makes the case for it.

Although its two NAACP Image Award nominations are a bit troublesome.

on this episode of frasier, frasier/niles tell a big lie to a woman, co-op their dad into covering for them, and get outed. lulz.

There’s literally 3 black characters in eleven seasons of Frasier and the last only exists to make Frasier uncomfortable about having a black colleague. Kevin James’ best friend on his show is black. How sway?

Frasier struck this amazing balance between educated humor and pandering to the lowest common denominator. When it was bad, it was pretty much just a Chuck Lorre show with an MA from a liberal arts college. From the episode where Fraiser gets nominated for an award:

Frasier: You know, I've never really won anything before. Although back in prep school, the Existentialist Club once named me "Most Likely To Be."

If you're a writer, the only reason you put that in there is because you're an asshole.

Niles was the best character on the show:

People notice it in Always Sunny because it's so obvious, and people have figured it out about Seinfeld after they spelled it out, but Frasier also rarely made it so Frasier himself despite being the title character came out looking good if that was the funniest way to write it. Even when he's in petty fights with someone equally petty like the upstairs neighbor he's generally not shown to be the better of the two.

Martin, and sometime Daphne, are the only ones really able to get away with not being shown to be a petty person. Niles only achieves in comparison to Frasier, Roz (and Daphne) often simply doesn't bother with the pretensions that Frasier does and never really tries to play in Frasier's elite circles.

I feel like Cheers was the last great traditional sitcom. Seinfeld had its high points, but wasn’t as consistent as Cheers was during its entire run.

I don’t think Frasier would even crack my top 5 from that decade.

Then Larry Sanders happened and rewrote the rules of what a sitcom should/could be.
