1. Call everyone a bunch of racists for no reason
Why yes, there's no reason to call it racist. Not at all, nope.
The people that promoted this called everyone racists before they brought up Zwarte Piet.
That didn't work so they had to find something to latch onto.
After a few tries of finding something for their identity politics war (from street signs to police evicting squatters) they settled on Zwarte Piet because it gave them media attention.
The chairman of the anti Zwarte Pieten group famously said: "Some will sing in protest, others may bring their baseball bats to the parade. I believe both should be done."
Most of the organizers have been arrested multiple times (usually before the holidays begin) because they threaten with a terror attack of some sort on social media.
The anti-Zwarte Piet movement peaked in 2017 or so and has been losing support since last year.
The main problem is that the government or rather ruling party refuses to take a clear stance on this. Officially their position is that the government should not intervene in these matters.
Unofficially their position is that the tradition should be kept as is as long as the celebrations are respectful. That means that instead of the losing group protesting the government the radical pro and anti-Piet people have started to fight each other.
Leaving the police to clean up and deal with the mess.
