It's fucking insane to me that it's just accepted wholesale that the well-being of companies and their employees are one, the same and in complete overlap. Up to the point that we have to accept that a leak (not of the game or code, mind you, but partial captures of some of the media that make the game) or "bad" reviews should be pondered against how they affect JOBS, nevermind how nebulously and indirect it is. As a
journalist™ you'd think Schreier would be well aware of how self defeating this line of thinking is and that there's other commitments at play than towing the line of what's beneficial for DAECONAOMI. Is he just thick or deliberately obfuscating ?
Yes, obviously, in this case, a contract has been breached at some point most probably. Maybe copyright law too, I'm not savvy enough here. Sony or Naughty Dogs are probably entitled to seek legal relief.
Yes, I guess a lot of people at Working Like Dogs are probably dismayed that their work is being thrusted into the public light not as it was meant to be discovered. That sucks.
Yes, bonus are attached to sales though I'm not sure why it is being brought up. It's hard to forecast what effect would the leak have here... And bonus schemes are not inherently "fair" or "good" (or safe from meddling see the latest Pitchford's shit antics) or an acceptable remedy to exploitation.
Yes I agree the speculation that he is a disgruntled employee doesn't absolve the leaker even if the work culture at ND is really as bad as suggested and is pretty tenuous at that point. Though it is an interesting one and what I expect journos to be investigating.
But for god's sake if you insist on educating the proles don't regurgitate WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE JERBS ?
