The WNBA has also been interesting statistically, and in part because Oliver and Pelton both did WNBA work as part of their way into The League, it for a long time showed more statistical patterns comparable to HS basketball than even NCAA basketball.

To use an example, PER. Lauren Jackson had two 35 PER seasons. Plus a 32 PER season. Nobody was even close. It wasn't like Steph Curry having video game numbers that topped LeBron, Durant and Westbrook's slightly less video game numbers and boosting him to 31 vs their 28's. She was getting these 35's against the next highest being 28's. Jordan never did that. Shaq in 2000, Wilt, Kareem, etc. No college player has dominated like that. No European player* has ever dominated like that. But HS players have, it's common. It's less about the top talent and more about how bad most of the teams' rosters are that they bring down the PER average which is always set to 15.

*Outside of that period in the 1980s/1990s where the national leagues were literally amateur leagues with a handful of pros who stayed in country for one reason or another...the Euroleague and cross-country competitions (and Olympics) never showed this divide.
