Also, I like that it doesn't shy away from really cruel stuff happening to children. It's very rare in media and there's a sort of morbid fascination associated with it. It's like a more detailed Limbo, which I was also fascinated by for the same reason.
I still stand by that statement. No reason kids need to be a protected class in fiction. Let them suffer and die just like adults. A GTA where that isn't prohibited would be neat. It's fiction, who cares. Ideally you'd make something interesting out of it, but that's not required.
That said, Made in Abyss author is probably an actual pedophile. There was some plausible deniability before he flat out said something along the lines of "yeah, I want to fuck kids" at a convention.
I don’t remember him ever outright defending (outside free speech and fictional) or lusting for that stuff here. Also, weren’t you guys bitching how RE is totally a pedo heaven because weeb discords just days ago. 
Inside is probably worse in that regard and I’m not seeing witch hunts. 
I look back at some of my defenses of that stuff back during gaf and era days and cringe. I still consider myself pretty damn close to a free expression absolutist and would not support outlawing fictional content no matter what they depicted, but I was probably just being a contrarian since that was one of the few times free expression limiting came up in online conversation, and being a weeb I guess I felt the need to defend anything even adjacent to that.
I also fought back against a lot of "localization" changes when it came to altering storylines and outfits and whatnot, and it still annoys me to some extent just because I don't like moral relativism being a factor in localization (let me see all the shitty stuff that's acceptable in one culture but not another's), but a chunk of it probably was just going in the complete opposite direction of Jack Thomspon like a lot of brain dead gamers of the time.
