The "boys club rhetoric" logic is interesting because it sort of invalidates individual experiences. It seems to go beyond actual history of objectification in media and into what is "uncomfortable" for their userbase in order to make an inclusive space. Of course "women are historically objectified and are uncomfortable over it, so let's make men uncomfortable instead" isn't exactly an inclusive mindset.
I have a friend from college that was raped by a female professor. He would absolutely find that thread uncomfortable, but what would happen if he actually posted that? Would there be a lot of "I'm sorry, but..." posts? Would they ignore him entirely? Would they say it isn't the same thing? Would the thread just grind to a halt? I imagine the most likely scenario is a bunch of men talking over a male victim of abuse before the thread ultimately gets closed to make the site not look awful.
