I dropped my sister off at LAX today.  I was prepared for the now more vigilant and stricter security protocol, with the lengthy wait at the security checkpoint.  What I was not prepared for was when they began to board her plane, they escorted all passengers through the terminal to a corridor where a platoon of soldiers in fatigues and combat boots personally checked every inch of every passenger.  Then about six or eight TSA security agents patted down everyone.  My sister was not prepared for this, and in all, what does this do to help security?  If terrorists make it past the first check point, then our government has failed.

I've been pretty supportive about tightening up security, but this is ridiculous.  At what point are we going to no longer allow carry on luggage?  I'm willing to bet soon you will no longer be able to purchase tickets at airports, and we'll be required to do mandatory pre-check in crap prior to even arriving at the aiport.  It's impossible to walk through an airport now without being groped.

The terrorists won't stop, no matter how many bottles of Purel we confiscate.  There will always be a weakness in the system for them to take advantage of, so should we make the safest, most effecient way to travel very tiring, very uncomfortable and very time consuming?

There's no way in fuck with these new protocols will anyone be able to even think about leaving LAX this Christmas if they don't get to the airport at least three and a half hours before departing.

There was a report done by this guy who discovered that it was faster to get through airport checkpoints by being suspicious or having suspicious things and being taken aside, than waiting in line and not being suspicious.

The amount of time you spend the airport may make other means of travel, like Amtrak, more effecient for short distance (East Coast bullets, Surfliner, etc.).  I mean, yeah, it takes an hour less to fly from D.C. to New York, but then you've got to deal with the hours of bullshit to do so, when you could've been sitting on a comfy train coach.

These days I use LIRR anyway, and even THEN they have delays and/or bomb threats at my station and have to shut the place down for a while. Honestly, travelling by car is the best way to do it these days

Well admittedly the loss of freedoms in flight did stop that liquid bomb event from occurring. The point is I would LIKE there not to be any terrorist attacks, and I suppose to a point, the security measures can save us from it happening often. I dont really think entire planes of people exploding is about manning up.

Honestly its not as if flying is a right, for most people its still a privilage. It costs a lot and is full of procedure, the solution to this is to not fly. Yes, its inconvenient not to fly, but if you REALLY need to get there fast I suppose you can suffer it.

I however need to go nowhere fast and I hate the proceedure, so screw flying. lolz.

Personally I go to a restaurant.  Sometimes I order out, but I'm not sure if I'd trust the fish coming from a place that delivers--although I guess that's more due to my own hangups more than anything else, I mean one of my ex-girlfriends wouldn't eat fish on sundays I think because she had this idea the fish wouldn't be fresh at the end of the week...
