Exactly. Why is that your favorite when there are literally hundreds of better films to appreciate?

I get what he's saying though. For example, I can have a favorite game, but I can acknowledge that there are better games out there. It's just that this game, flaws and all, clicked with me more than others.

That still doesn't let him get away for saying FMJ is boring though.

Star Wars?  For me, yes.  I don't find the universe enjoyable really.  Meh.  But I'm not judging anyone who likes it.  I just don't like the films.  I mean come on, I'm into sappy love stories.   I LOVE SMALLVILLE!  I'm not in a position to judge anyone.  But I will continue to talk shit about the movies themselves.

The problem isn't star wars, but the fact he is trying to get in the film industy but calls popcorn flicks greater than the well "REAL" movies. He isn't just a film goer with simple tastes. He is someone who is going to college to learn about this industry and get involved.

Star Wars was embarrassingly awful. Just cuz the theme tweaked your nerd glands does not make it a good movie -- the writing andf acting were horrid, the cinematography pedestrian, and the direction dubious. Good music, costuming (for the time), and set design, though!

Is it apparent Lucas directed it then?  :lol

He hired another guy like ESB but the guy turned out to not have a clue what he is doing so Lucas apparently directed nearly all of it but paid the guy still and gave him the credit.

I'll rent it and give it an actual viewing though

Fuck off and die, PD. Or go watch Forrest Gump. It's the same thing.

Dude I only saw 15min. There was no dialogue in that entire 15 minutes. Instead there was a lot of repetitive shots of bombastic proportions. Hm hey look the colors are making his face look green. Hey look, 5 minutes later the colors are making his face look blue! And now 5 more minutes later omg, everything is green and blue! OMG AMAZING :lol

What I saw of 2001 suggested that the movie is actually praised for its technical brilliance and innovation, not the quality of the film itself. Like King Kong, or The Birth of a Nation, or even Star Wars (at least to the more asinine movie snobs out there).

Most film snobs consider 2001 one of the greatest films of all time. Not just in a technical sense. Its rare to see some film critic do a top 10 and not include 2001.

I think there's ~45 minutes total without dialouge with the longest span being over 20 minutes. If you really need some distinguished mentally-challenged fellow narrating what is taking place on screen in order for you to understand the story progression, maybe Forrest Gump isn't such a bad suggestion.

No. My uncle has a lot of old African American movies, and he also owns Birth of a Nation; from what I understand it's kinda hard to even find it at stores. Anyway I watched the entire movie, and it's not hard to see why it's considered a very innovative movie for it's time. But at the same time, it's not a great movie. It's way to long, and while it's funny and exciting at certain times, it just seems like a mess.

Thank you. Is that so hard to fucking understand am nintenho? I didn't even mention the content of the movie, not even once. That should have given you an idea of what I was talking about, not to mention the King Kong reference.

And with respect to King Kong, there are actually many people who like the movie beyond the technical brilliance. When I was little I never liked Kong; I was a pretty dumb Godzilla fan back then, and while people were arguing whether Mario could kick Sonic's ass I was detailing why Godzilla would beat Kong's ass.

Then I saw that Kong vs Godzilla movie and cried :(

You idiot.

Without Birth of a Nation, movies wouldn't be where they are today.  You are so fucking distinguished mentally-challenged and you talk out of your ass so much:

Quote
The film was released in 1915 and has been credited with securing the future of feature length films (any film over 60 minutes in length) as well as solidifying the language of cinema.

It was the first American film to be longer than an hour in length, and proved that audiences would accept such a length. It also pioneered such techniques as deep focus, jump-cut, and facial close-ups, which are now considered integral to conventional cinematic style. It introduced new cinematic innovations, special effects, and artistic techniques. For these reasons, it was voted one of the "Top 100 American Films" (# 44) by the American Film Institute in 1998.

In its day, it was the highest grossing film, taking in more than $10 million at the box office per the box cover of the Shepard version of the DVD currently available (equivalent to $300 million in 2006).

In 1992 the United States Library of Congress deemed it "culturally significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.

Despite its controversial story, the film continues to get high (if conflicted) praise from film critics such as Roger Ebert.
