I've got a burgeoning interest in extinction and I genuinely want to catalogue all the major crises that threaten human survival in this century or the next. Please list a brief explanation with each one.

Low hanging fruit:
- topsoil erosion. Farming has reduced the world's topsoil by about 70% since 1950. No topsoil means no arable land and no arable land means no food.
- ocean acidification. CO2 absorbed by the ocean lowers its pH and could cause ecological collapse. The ocean's phytoplankton, which produce approximately 70% of the atmosphere's oxygen, are especially vulnerable.
- global warming's effect on agriculture. Crop yields are sensitive to temperature and yields could be halved at the end of the century given the expected increases in global temperature. It will be impossible to feed ten billion people with half the food capacity and widespread droughts.
