Does the color of the water matter to you?

For the future, come June 9 to 11, I'm going on a special kayaking adventure.  I need to know, what color water really is.  First was Alexander Springs that really showed a fairly strong blue color.  Then came Hawaii, where it was bluer still, but I was still near the turbulent shore and had no way to get out.  This special kayaking adventure should, I'm hoping, get me the information I need.  I'm getting a sneaky feeling that the open ocean is much bluer than what I encountered with Hawaii.  I can't go by photos on the Internet as I don't know how the white balance, etc. is or if it's been overexposed (causing the reds and greens to be a higher value than expected).  There's an area I know of where, by going 5 miles out from shore (away from all that turbulence), the water gets to 500 feet deep.  With this sort of setup, I can, once and for all, determine a finalized water color.

I don't like games that have water in them.
