Some people's expectations:
Mass conflict, mass exodus fighting and ravaging thru the streets, constant bloodshed, the complete collapse of the country. People believe running for the hills and hunkering down away from society will be doable and achievable.
My expectations:
Irregular conflicts between multiple organized militia groups, irregular unorganized conflict in general. Police and paramilitary backing right wing militias to brutally squash dissent. Society continues under a very structured terror regime that will take many years to change.
People think if Trump is reelected that life will basically cease to exist and that everything is completely fucked, irredeemable, and that a large crushing wave of violence and borderline genocide will happen.
Truth is, shits just gonna continue sucking more, more dissent will occur, and bloodshed may happen, but conservative people are willing to fight for Starbucks and Mcdonalds. Corporations with billions of dollars will still be the true movers and shakers of this planet. Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, the billions of dollars and infrastructure and how corporations are ingrained into society or civilization, that won't change.
People foresee armageddon instead of life taking a very different and ugly shape. The majority of Americans love the normalcy of misery, of capitalism. That's not going to change in any amount of short time.
I guess I'm saying we're already in dystopia, and we've been on this path for a very long time, and with how ingrained rituals and habits are, any amount of bloodshed isn't going to change that.
