"Our cruise offers curated experiences"

etc.

I blame it on Pitchfork,

I too was going to blame Pitchfork, but wasn't clear on how much it actually contributed to the trend.

it became common Silicon Valley pundit/analyst/biz/product management jargon at some point in the late 00s I think. like here's a 2010 page from a techbiz strategy consultancy (Forrester) proclaiming the advent of the NEW ERA of CURATED COMPUTING: https://go.forrester.com/blogs/10-05-14-curated_computing_designing_for_the_post_ipad_era/

I'm the curator of the Yacht Rock HOF. I have Kenny Loggins' mullet and a used coffee cup from Christopher Cross.

Lets not forget to blame DevOps for shoving heinous words like "Sprint", in to our lexicon.

The only Sprint I wanna hear about:

"Curate" is a pretty simple word that has reasonable nuance and no simple replacements. I'm down with it.

OTOH, "wheelhouse" can suck it. Why not say, "I'm good at" or "skillset" or even "puissant"?

this made me realize I've never had any idea what a physical wheelhouse actually is or what the metaphor is supposed to be. still not looking it up.

It's a nautical term. Wheelhouse is the same as the bridge.

revanchist I can see people using, but palimpsest generally has bad/Orwellian connotations.

Yes. Be sure to follow the ones that tell you the horniest new releases and whether you need to download an 18+ patch or not.

When words meant stuff?

I don't know, did you think "curated" meant inherently quality?

Maybe open a dictionary?
