Haha.  Yeah, that was written in like a span of 10 minutes and I didn't bother to proof read... my next one is going to be set in chapters and it's about a super hero! 

Here's the intro..

James, pale from fright, burst through the Emergency Room doors at the West Houston Medical Center.  He confronted the first person he saw that resembled part of the Hospital staff.

"Robert Scott!  Where is he??"

The nurse, used to this kind of reaction, tried to calm James down. 

"Robert Scott."  James began to fumble his words as his adrenaline drained and fear began to set in.  "Um, Robert Scott.  He.. uh, my brother.  They said he was shot."  The words sounded so hollow, so unreal as they left his lips.  It wasn't a dream.  This was the real nightmare that his life had become.  All of a sudden, incomprehensible words broke James' thoughts. 

"James!  Oh my God, James!"

Betsy ran up to James crying and burrowed her head in his chest. 

"It's been over 45 minutes and they won't tell me what's going on.  I don't know what to do"

"Betsy, tell me what happened!  Where is he??"

"They took him in.  They.. they told me they would tell me when they knew something.  I don't know what's happening and.."

"Is he going to be alright?? Tell me what happened!"

"We had just gotten home and we were getting our things out of the car and, these people... these fucking pieces of shit!  They just came out of nowhere and they told they wanted the car and everything we had.  Bobby didn't even say anything!  He just said 'ok.  ok.'  One of them had a gun and they shot him!  They fucking shot him!"

"Calm down.  Is he going to be alright??  How did he look?"

"I don't know.  He couldn't stay awake.  There was so much blood."

The moment was interrupted by a tap on Betsy's shoulder.  The doctor was young.  He couldn't have been more than 27 or 28 years old.  At these moments, everyone knows what happened after the first 3 seconds when the doctor begins to speak.  Doctors all use the same insensitive terms to explain their work to someone.  Although it's 3 only 3 seconds, they seem to last forever as the doctor thinks of what to say.

"I'm very sorry but..."

The doctor doesn't even need to say anything else.  He knows, James knew it and Betsy knew it.  The doctor looks on as the scene is replayed.  It's not the first time he's ever seen it.  It won't be the last time he'll ever see it.  It gets easier to say everytime too. 

Hell, after the first week on the job, he knew he didn't even have to say anything else.  What was the point?

It's an awkward moment for everyone.  Two people brought together by the worst feeling imaginable and an innocent man delivering the pain.  The doctor gives an awkward look, grips his clipboard tight and says 'I'm sorry.  I.." and gives up and walks away.
