There were a bunch of these all week.

One with a guy who quickly skated past two girls to impress, then accidently broke the ice and they feel in too.
The other with some dude taking his jeep out for a spin on the ice.

So like, I've ice skated before, on various private ponds.

The first step is checking the ice to make sure it can support your weight.

Step two is the actual ice-skating.

I feel like this should be common sense.

Re OP video: was the plunge planned?

That section of ice he fell through was clearly different from the solid ice that supported his weight while skating.

He's wearing swim trunks in winter.

He does not seem perturbed at being "suddenly" immersed in freezing water, taking the opportunity for a lackadaisical swim.

Feels planned.
