I'm asking in earnest: What exactly is she asking for? Separatism? Like a separate piece of land in America dedicated to a black ethnostate? Like what the actual alt-right want? Or a unified nation except it includes a separate set of laws and standards that only apply to black people? ...like what the actual alt-right want? What is she talking about "divorced from colonialist structures"? given that all western societies were established and nourished by white people, any memetic concept for "how things have always been done (and it's a decent enough system)" are colonialist structures mortgages were not invented for the benefit of black people, nor insurance, nor property taxes, nor policing, so it's colonialist turtles all the way down no this is not a jokeVIDEO People like Nep and the person in this video have backed themselves into a logical corner by proclaiming all products of white colonialism as inherently negative and then associating all modern societal concepts with white colonialism despite the bulk of contemporary western philosophy tracing directly back to the interpretations of Greek philosophy through middle eastern thinkers and scientists. I suppose it can be argued that the Muslim invasions of northern Africa were explicitly colonial, but certainly not white colonial.
Regardless, it's just another symptom of this all or nothing line of critical theory. (Note: CRT and it's related scholarly theories are perfectly valid avenues of study and inquiry, this video really shouldn't be taken out of context, there is value is the thought experiment of scientific theory sans western society, but that value is completely scholarly and shouldn't be [and frankly can't be] used for any practical application).
If colonialism = bad, then colonial science (or finance, or education) = bad and necessarily non-colonial science = good. Despite there being no actual evidence that "colonial" scientific method is actually inherently prejudice.
That's the problem which leaves the question; what is the solution within a modern progressive framework? Real scholars endorse the rejection of racism and prejudice within the modern framework, which is entirely possible, but extremists endorse a full on rejection of western modernity which is, of course, ludicrous. This is the danger when you form your ideology based on a single story, in this case that story being that all knowledge is tainted by western colonialism.
What is Nep asking for? She's just using all of this debate as a cudgel to swing around when she wants, she doesn't want to participate in the inquiry or have serious critical debate or god forbid make any improvements in the world. She just wants to watch YouTube videos about why she should cancel this person and then parrot that video into her sphere of influence because the feedback she gets makes her feel good. That's it, nobody should take anything she says seriously.
