Krispy Kreme Megathread
« on: October 11, 2021, 09:28:47 PM »
I finally did it. I tried Krispy Kreme.

I was in NY Penn Station with 15 minutes to kill and there it was, a Krispy Kreme store Im pretty sure is new.

They have nice displays. Lost of donuts up front. Not in the back like Dunkin. 3 registers open as well. Impressive.

I ask if they have an apple cider donut. They dont. I ask if they have a pumpkin donut. They dont.

WTF. What kind of American food place doesnt have a pumpkin product in October?

Sigh. I already waited in line so I got a strawberry glazed with sprinkles. My Dunkin go-to.

I put it in my bag and forgot about it.

Until today.

Still good. Better than Dunkin. Moist even after 24 hours.

Would buy again.

Krispy Kreme has to be near the top of the list for most disappointing "things I saw in a Hollywood movie" experiences.

I had a roommate in college who was about 500 lbs and him and his girlfriend (who was 300 pounds) would bring home a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts and eat the whole box every single day.

I used to work overnights at Target and they would leave out the leftover Krispy Kremes from the bakery and there was one big guy who put away a good 10 of them in a night.  He would also crush an entire White Castle crave case.  No one wanted to work by him because his farts could strip paint off of the walls.

Looks like an average nut contains 350 calories. So 12 = 4,200 calories, or 2,100 each

Yeah, KK isn't that great.  If I have donuts, it's at one of the local hipster places so I can go full on fat boy and have one with bacon in it and drink a cider on the side.  The KKs around here closed up after a year or two after the initial hype died out.

Best donuts I ever had were from a Turkey Hill gas station in PA.
