Shit Himu, you got me excited thinking they announced a date finally.  I don’t think it’s making it out before the end of the year  :-\  Still can’t wait though, the soundtrack arrangement alone in these damn near make them worth the purchase.

This is the main one I'm looking forward too.

But I'd really like a Switch and/or PS whatever version.

FYI, the game is not 2.5D like Octopath or whatever. So far it only looks like it's that opera house scene that was redone that way. Bunch of other screens out and footage and it looks normal (in fact it seems like these PRs are all based off the GBA versions visually but major improvements and new music). It's possible that a few select major scenes have been redone in that style.

I really like the PR versions and think they are the definitive versions if you don't care about the bonus content which was never part of the original in the first place so personally I don't care about it.

But my only negative is I feel like the color schemes are a little off, like not using a large enough color palette. FF6 screens continue that look. It's FINE being a little off for all the benefits of the PR versions (speed, music, widescreen, new balance, achievements, modern platforms), but it's the one and only negative imo outside the lack of GBA extra content.

for FF6 I feel like adding a few one-off gimmicks involving sorta-3D graphics is actually in the spirit of the original game. :)

Absolutely.  My big question for the game isn’t a graphics related one, though, but instead for audio: how are they going to handle the opera?  Will we be getting actual singing, or be made to suffer through more synthy water gargling?  Or do they just remove that aspect of the music altogether and keep it purely instrumental?

Uh the fact it's instrumental yet still replicates voice singing is part of its appeal.

I'm more concerned about gameplay and want SNES difficulty with xzone/vanish trick taken out

The gameplay changes in these pixel remasters have been great so far. Not concerned. Also the music has been excellent so whatever they do will be good.

Like with the gameplay changes, FF1 PR is legit the most fun and best version of the game even without the amazing soundtrack and great visuals.

Disagree. FFIV is awful and I had to mod the game to have original game code.

Also after FFI Advance I doubt it's better than the original FF1 or psx version. I beat FF1A without dying and haven't bothered buying a version of FF1 since. But I'll take your word for it and give it a shot when it's on sale. Personally FF1 NES is still fantastic.

Guess which one is modded and which one has original game values?

Fwiw I just finished the dungeon and Cecil is level 14 and Tellah is 20. You gain so much xp that Tellah was already 20 by the time I reached the save point of the dungeon. If I kept going maybe he'd be level 25 at the end of it?

Not yet. If it's successful, which I'm sure it will be, the Pixel Remasters will come to consoles. It will be on Steam if you have it. :)

Gonna be perfectly honest... it's ok by me.  It gives me weird Sega CD Lunar type 90's cheese nostalgia vibes.

The arranged music in this ... :preach Been enjoying this so far.. wish there was a one handed mode too, but at least the touch controls can be rearranged to cater to one side or the other for the most part.  Hopefully I can actually play through it in it's entirety finally.  :-[

Been playing this for a little bit.  Just finished the Locke chapter of that initial story split.  I’ve been playing on Android, because I want this game in my pocket to play at any time.    After recently completing DQV on Android, which I had a great time with, I was hoping for a similar experience.   What made DQV so awesome on there was the one handed mode.  On top of that, being a DS port, it allowed for full screen.  I wasn’t expecting a full screen conversion for the world map or anything, but my issue is, it’s forced to be played in Landscape only.

That being said, it allows for a bit of touch screen button placement, but still very limited.  It would be a million times better if it allowed for one handed mode and shuffled the touch commands at the bottom like Chrono Trigger did on DS.  CT was absolutely flawless to play on my phone one handed.  It was brilliant, actually.  I have a Note9, so the screen isn’t exactly massive, but it’s still big enough that, in landscape mode, the touch commands are fat and spread out enough that it forces me to stretch out my fingers way too much.  But, some of the buttons shapes are cumbersome, as some are overly big, while certain ones like the ‘select all’ button is entirely too flat and narrow.  On top of that, the interface covers up the character stats/HP.  I go to Cure, but it brings up a character select menu, but completely cover the HP of the characters to confirm who needed it.  Granted, I know I should know who it is that needs it since I told myself I needed to cure so and so, but it’s still annoying…  especially for an ATB.

Another thing that I find lacking, is the option for the original music and font.  Just, why not throw that in there too?  The font is so obnoxiously generic and small, it’s a bit of an eye sore… especially when pasted on overly sized and oblong touch screen buttons.

It’s like they tried to add accessibility options for the controls, but they’re really not all that intuitive.  Sure, they added like a quick save which is nice, and the Blitz attacks are much easier to execute surprisingly… but everything else with the UI is chunky and a bit of a demanding chore.  People gave the game 1 star because there’s no option for control support… but if you’re playing the Android version and demand control support, don’t know what to tell you.. you should’ve bought it elsewhere, like Steam.

Still overall, the re-worked pixel based graphics looks great, and I really have enjoyed the rearranged music so far.  I don’t have too much of a heavy nostalgia for it (I played some back then at a friend’s, but I was a Sega stan at the time), so based on the user experience so far, I’d rate it a 7/10 so far..
