You could never know what it's likeYour blood like winter freezes just like iceAnd there's a cold lonely light that shines from youYou'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use
And did you think this fool could never win?Well look at me, I'm coming back againI got a taste of love in a simple wayAnd if you need to know while I'm still standing, you just fade away
Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever didLooking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kidI'm still standing after all this timePicking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
Been crazy about Elton John since I was 12 or 13 years old. Great stuff.
70's Elton is great, 80's Elton is trash.
Is that Akira Toriyama?
Speaking in between songs, John addressed former first lady Laura Bush, who was also in attendance, acknowledging former President George W. Bush’s “astonishing” work on the Presidential Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, which he started while in office and is credited with changing the trajectory of the HIV/AIDS crisis around the world.“I want to say to the first lady, President Bush accelerated the whole thing with his PEPFAR bill. It was the most incredible thing,” John said, asking Laura Bush to give her husband a hug on his behalf. The fight to end the HIV epidemic, John said, is one of the few truly bipartisan issues in the US, adding: “I just wish America could be more bipartisan on everything.”
“On behalf of the American people, thank you – and I sincerely mean this – for moving the soul of our nation,” the President told John.
