People hold celebrities in a different view. To them they're kind of a race of super people who never feel real emotions like we do. In that way, it's okay to make fun of them, and it's unthinkable that they'd lash out physically or emotionally. Plus add into the fact it's Will Smith, who's cultivated a public image of charisma and wholesomeness.

Everyone is talking about the slap, but it was the shouting that was the problem. If he just slapped him and sat back down it would've been weird, but over and done with without much more comment.
