I’ve seen it observed elsewhere that comedians are well prepared to deal with hecklers, but less so to deal with immediate and direct violence. I can confirm that they are each distinct and separate defensive styles. It is a shame that violence seemed the best recourse for Will. I am sad that Chris rock has had violence enacted on him for performing a professional capacity, no matter how much in bad taste.
