I don't necessarily look forward to new things, often I stay out of the upcoming media news cycle entirely so that when cool things crop up they're a pleasant surprise, and until then I get into a holding pattern with old content I already like

But I look forward to

Breath of the Wild 2
Octopath Traveler 2

More episodes of Redlettermedia
More episodes of the Always Sunny Podcast
Interesting content I will stumble across like a sudden 4 hour documentary about speedrunning The Adventures of Bayou Billy

Hanging out with the nieces and nephews
Playing anything in the backlog on Steam Deck

Wikipedia is awful at listing these things so of what’s listed

John Wick 4
Mission Impossible 7
Oppenheimer vs Barbie
Dune 2

Yakuza Ishin
RE4 Remake
Zelda BOTW2

Life stuff: moving around and traveling again, for better or worse. Underestimated how lazy I’ve become.

Real answer time.

Killers of the Flower Moon (dir. Martin Scorsese)
The Irishman made me realize Scorsese still got it. And always love Leo in almost everything. :heart

Dune (dir. Denis Villeneuve)
Goddamn those blue balls after Part 1.

Oppenheimer (dir. Christopher Nolan)
My pet nerd subject of fascination + one of my favorite directors (yes, still).

Zelda (dir. Hidemaro Fujibayashi)
Goddamn do they take their sweet-ass time with these games. Fuck.

ℝ𝔼𝕊𝕀𝔻𝔼ℕ𝕋 𝔼𝕍𝕀𝕃 𝟜 ℝ𝔼𝕄𝔸𝕂𝔼 (dir. Kazunori Kadoi & Yasuhiro Anpo)
:rejoice I was always on the "RE4 doesn't need a remake" train, but RE2make's critical and player reactions inspire so much hope this project is in the right hands, despite Mikami's obvious absence. Mikami being my favorite director, this should be sacrosanct to me, but RE4make is my most-anticipated game of the last few years. Sorry Zelda, ya took too long and ya lost me to my true love: Leon S. Kennedy. :heartbeat

Mostly I'm bummed I have nothing Evangelion-related to look forward to, or a new Matrix film, and I know Hot D is 2024 too. :stahp

Apparently my recently ordered Analogue Pocket has a good chance of arriving timely next year. I'm not even that big of a Gameboy fan, but that thing looks nice.

Also awaiting all the survival horror games. The Yakuza games. Whatever Capcom and From are cooking up.

Also I wouldn't mind US civil war to get going. So braindead hipsters worldwide finally get the gist that we don't need the same fake-progressive culture wars over here, where we actually have it better. :pacspit Maybe have Biden blow up the Kremlin before that happens though.

I hope this is just general ennui and not something more serious, hang in there man

clinging to content will only get you so far, but if it's all you've got and you're not interested in stories being told across media, you could look to more creative stuff where your own stories develop as you play

Crusader Kings, Stellaris, Civilization, The Sims, Dwarf Fortress (Steam version with finally usable interface should be coming soon), Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, Tycoon games, management games in other genres like XCOM

if you have friends IRL play Ultimate Chicken Horse with them

Life: Hopefully a lot of sex to make up for lack of sex in 2022. I think this is the first year in like twenty years that I didn't have sex once wtf Health issues suck.

Games: FF16, Kuro no Kiseki III, DQ3 HD, FF7r-2 (gonna slip to 2024 I'm sure), Zelda BoTW2, Theaterhythm Next

Movies: Uhhhhh....was gonna say Blade, but that's been delayed. Not really sure what my favorite directors are working on in 2023, so no idea. I guess Spider-Verse 2 if they don't fuck it up?

Books: The four secret Brandon Sanderson kickstarter books. Skyward #4. Was most excited on the novel front for the end of Stormlight Archives Arc 1 with Book #5 but that got kicked a full year to fall 2024 (and might slip to 2025), so pretty much just those kickstarter Cosmere books and the Skyward finale.

Music: I don't pay attention to when bands I like are working on new albums. So no idea. I just see the notifications they have a new album out and I give it a listen.
