We were really spoiled with such great hardware but we didn't realize it. It was like 150 just before it died  :doge
The big problem was always that Sony treated their handhelds as 2nd tier devices. The consoles would get the big releases and the handhelds would get the lesser spin offs of the same games.

It's kinda funny how Nintendo and Sony had the exact opposite strategy. Sony ignored the Vita to focus on the PS4 and console business.
Nintendo 'saved' the 3DS and their handheld business at the expense of the Wii U.

458 (39%) out of 1159 tested titles that can be played from start to finish with playable performance and no game breaking glitches.

Niceish hardware that was handicapped by the B-tier shovelware that was dumped on it.

Nah.  There were plenty of good games released on the platform, but a lot of stuff was multiplatform and the higher prices especially compared to the 3DS killed it. The back touch panel and touch features were dumb, but that quickly stopped mattering in most games and I think people even forgot the back touch panel was even a thing.

They did some pretty stupid things with it though.  I still will never understand the point of Sony not letting some games be compatible with the PSTV.  It was easily hacked at least.

Like the Wii U, think every game has been ported. Except the half dozen Monster Hunter types, Shinobido 2, and the Killzone game that’s said to be good.

Both the PSP and the Vita Killzone games are great.

I'd love to have a new Vita with faster load times and ports of games available on other systems. It's so much easier for me to find the time to play games on handheld systems.

Vita was awful.

The hardware was wonderful for the time. The issue is that the only native games worth playing on it can be played elsewhere with better graphics and performance.

At least PS1 and PSP games were great on it. Well assuming they were on Sony’s random fucking whitelist. Sometimes you could transfer them from a PS3 (that option is impossible to use now due to 2FA I believe) but not download them directly from the store :derp

It’s habbening
It will just be a slim model that removes features that the Soyny fanboys convinced themselves were necessary and made the PS5 better than the Microsoft box, but now are unnecessary. It will replace the digital only model which is selling like shit.

If this were an actual PS5 portable, it'll sell gangbusters... if it's a Remote Play streaming device only, cast it into the fire.

Now if it were technically a PS4 portable though...  :thinking

This would be pretty cool.  Too bad it's not what we're going to get.  :-\

If they do reveal a PS5 slim model that looks more "normal," I expect to see all the fanboys who said the PS5 design looked good to immediately do a 180 and rush out to get these.

That would be the most DOA gaming handheld since the ngage.

If you want something that’s only cloud streaming, the Logitech g cloud does all that (besides a 1 inch smaller screen) and is out now.

And knowing Sony it’ll only have 3 hours of battery life tops.

What the fuck are they smoking over there?

I would probably buy a new handheld if it could play older PlayStation games locally. Only streaming games from the PS5 is too limited.

Basing off other streaming handhelds, it should have enough juice to emulate PS1 and PSP. Adaptive triggers are an unnecessary cost but falling under $199 is doable.
