Dio era Black Sabbath > Ozzy

It's pretty clear Ozzy is the weak link in the 70's Sabbath albums. Sometimes Ozzy just isn't nice to listen to and he's all over the place which doesn't add to the music in a positive way.

Nah the highs on the best Ozzy albums>highs on the best Dio albums. But at the same time the lows of the Ozzy albums were super low whereas I don't think any of the Dio ones are bad. If I had to just name a bunch of classic Sabbath songs, most of my list would be Ozzy...that's why he wins IMO.

This song is what made me realize this today I don't like Ozzy's vocals much in Sabbath.

I love the riff and the music but Ozzy is the weakest part of it for me. It's still legendary and dope of course. I've been listening to the first four Sabbath albums and comparing to the Dio years.

Also for what it's worth, I actually love Ozzy's vocals but I feel like his solo work vocals are soooo much better.

Compare Sweet Leaf with Bark at the Moon.

I love him on Sweet Leaf, but that's the type of stuff he excels at imo. Those darker songs...he's aces on that shit. I like him on acoustic stuff too, especially the solo stuff. Whereas with Dio I love him on darker stuff as well as the more epic sounding "we're marching to fight the demons of hell" type songs.

That song is so good. I feel like Ozzy is best on certain songs or vibes.

I guess a better way for me to say it is:

I like Dio's singing more, but I like the actual musicianship of Ozzy Sabbath more?

I don't know, they cancel each other out.
