Honestly, was never much of a fan of the 2000s. Everything tried way too hard to be overly extreme, dark, edgy, and gritty in the aftermath of 9/11... all the angsty screamo and nu-metal music (and dubstep at the end of it), an influx of gritty war movies in the Iraq war aftermath, brown and grey piss filters in yet another Xbox 360 shooter, the housing bubble leading to uncontrolled suburban/exurban sprawl and McMansions being built each tackier than the last, the total sensory overload 'bling' style, the tacky Ed Hardy/Juicy Couture fashion on one side and the porn stashe/brown blazer/lumberjack beard hipster on the other. "If you're not with us, you're a terrorist!" neocon politics sucked too.
That being said, at least it had more character than the 2010s... a decade in which culture went in the total opposite, an attempt to be as milquetoast and inoffensive as possible. Light pastel colored interiors, those generic '5 and 1' apartment buildings popping up in downtowns around the country, 'wholesome' Mumford and Sons/Ed Sheeran music being inescapable, and formulaic kid-friendly Marvel/Disney movies getting released at a rapid pace.
Give me the weirdness and variety of the 80s and 90s any day over either decade.
(I do rank some games and music to come out in the early 2000s and late 2010s as all time favorites, and there were some great moments here and there for the stuff I like, but most of that wasn't exactly making waves in popular culture)
