Those of you that have seen Cronenberg's masterpiece will no doubt see the similarities. Some of the shots are even reminiscent. Also, what the hell is with the cover of Lou Reed's A Perfect Day? Chronenberg is gonna get lawyered up and brick on this thing. He hates Americans, you know.

I saw people say that in the comments, but I am unfamiliar with that.

Anyway, this will be vastly inferior to Videodrome since it lacks Debbie Harry putting out cigarettes on her boobs, aka IT SUX. Loses points for A Perfect Day cover, too.

Yeah. It's got its fair share of visually eh moments, but a lot of the effects do hold up pretty well today. Things like the pulsating tapes and TV, and the effect of him going into the TV. The prosthetic chest vagina looks kinda dry, though. The Videodrome room looks pretty cool most of the time. Of course, the "helmet" used to capture hallucinations is kinda eh since it relies on computer technology of the day. There are also a couple of nice trick shots, like when James Woods and Debbie Harry are having sex on the apartment floor, and it turns into the Videodrome room.

Man, now I wanna watch Videodrome.

I really liked the first 2/3rds and I disliked the last 1/3rd. Even the first 2/3rds has a few issues, notably with unrealistic dialogue (and hand in hand, TV movie quality acting) from them there teenagers.

It was nice to see him try something new, and I think with that in mind, it was a good first attempt. I'm glad to see him get some attention, though. He's kinda been hurting in regards to funding his projects the past couple years. Now he has 2 movies announced and both of them sound pretty interesting.

You ever see Dead Ringers?

My problem with HoV is that almost everything is laughable in that movie.

When he palms the badguy's nose and his whole nose comes off. Thats just silly.

The last third of AHoV kinda lost the momentum for me, but then again the first two thirds were too awesome to really detract from my overall enjoyment.

Also, Doug told me about the Stephen King story that is apparently similar to this, and that sounds like a TOTAL ripoff of a Doctor Who episode. You know King is hurtin' when he is picking ideas from Doctor Who episodes.

And King washed up years and years ago. I'm beginning to wonder if there's a shelf life on talent. Maybe that explained why guys like him and Carpenter had any bone of talent dissapear a long time ago.

I couldn't! I didn't see anything that stated "this is a post apocalyptic movie." There were some desolate-y areas, but they could've been in shit urbania.

Neither of those are 100% indicative of a movie being post-apoc.
