PHOENIX DARK MOVIE THEATER: Imitation of Life
« on: August 15, 2006, 09:44:04 PM »

Truly a classic movie in every sense of the word, Imitation of Life defines what makes a movie classic. A great story, brought to life by amazing acting (and even more amazing characters) to explore a subject that still effects this country. The movie perfectly blends shades of drama and comedy into one great movie.

Perhaps my favorite thing about the movie are the characters it introduces. From the complicated Lora Merideth to the fucking pimp Steve to the tragic Sara Jane, every character hits a high note. Truly unforgettable characters.

Sara Jane, after being introduced to the white man's pimp hand :(

Almost like a tv show, Imitation of Life creates many different side stories, all of which come together to form the main story. Every one is intriging, and as I said, it's all acted out very well.

Steve being the pimp he is

Overall this is just a classic movie, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who's into good movies.

10/10

It was originally black and white, but obviously it's been Technicolor'd.

My missus loves both version of this movie. She owns this DVD which contains both versions:

I watched the end of the 1959 version... a bit too melodramatic with the acting, but not a bad story...

"Mama... Mama I do love you!"

"Ms. Lora... I killed her miss Lora!"

"Let me just hold you... one... more... time..."
