Saving money really sucks
« on: February 05, 2007, 11:38:11 PM »
Because my job contract will finish at the end of March I'm currently saving as much as possible because I don't know how long I'll be out of work. And I tell ya it really sucks sitting at home on the weekends not going out and getting pissed. It's not worth it.

Or is it?

there must be other ways of saving money.

One should always be able to fund one's binge drinking.

I'm going to have to try and get other people to start buying my beer. Or perhaps if I suddenly have to go to the toilet just before we're about to pay the tab for the night.

Yeah getting used to having lots of money and then having almost none is worse than working a low paying job and saving money all the time/

I'm looking for a sports bike.  I've been thinking I could get a old suzuki katana for realitivly cheep.  Nothing bigger than 600cc because I'm an utter beginner.  What do you have?  ...but savings also goes to pay off my laptop and pay for uni  :(

if you are a complete newbie id suggest a ninja 250... 2999$ to take her home... thats what i have and i grew up on motorcycles... for some reason my father would never help me get a sportbike  :lol ... seriously starting off with a 600 as a complete newb is just asking for trouble... ride the 250 for a couple of years and then upgrade like im doing...

I've been debating that a lot, I feel that I'd want to buy something a little future proof because eventually I will need a car because of winter, so it would probably be like another 8 years before I will have any spare money again for a new bike.  And I have a friend thats learning off of a 650 ninja, so I mean its do able; though he has fallen a lot, lol.  How is 250cc for highway travel btw?

it gets from 0-90mph at an ok pace... of course other bigger bikes are gonna leave you in the dust... but you will be able to hang with most sports cars... top speed is around 115mph with me on it(170 pds) but it takes a while to get there from 90... just take into consideration your friends falls on the 650 they all could have been fatal... especially in traffic... plus the mpg on the 250 cant be beat...

well maybe the 250 is the way too go.  I love that price and a ninja is what I do want - i just couldn't afford a high cc one.  Glad I still have till late spring before I have to decide because as you can see i'm still really undecided on what I want, lol.

yea its a no brainer for us poor folk... plus its the best ride you can ask for in college... 70mpg sexy and you can pull right up to class... mines ninja green but they dont offer the 250 in that color anymore...

:btw the scars are from a previous owner...

I've been thinking about getting a cruiser, but i'm a total newb. I live in AZ so I could use it all the time and I was also thinking that it would be fun to drive from Phoenix up to Vancouver on a motrocycle but I was worried that a 250cc would bee too weak for extensive highway travel.

Go for a full time job somewhere applying for every manager position, and then also get a part-time over the weekend job.

If you're truly up for saving money, the best way to do it is to constantly work..... because then you're working like hell getting a ton of money, and you have no time to spend it! ;)

Work at the bank!! good stuff ;)  good college women there too sometimes.

Saving money is actually really simple if you're committed.  Imagine if you cut all of your "frivilous" expenses.  You drank work coffee instead of going to Starbucks.  You picked up every piece of change you saw and put it in a can.  You never ate out and you rode the bus or a bike to work every day.

I once was going through some rough times, and I cut out everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) I could to save dough.  In three months, I had a little over $6,000 saved by working an average 9-5 job for $10.50 an hour and never going out or driving.  It was fantastic.

But the point of this thread was that I hate economising and shit. I like going out and getting all pissed up.
