- widescreen ain't a big deal. In fact, it adds to it. I've not once seen an odd frame from the widescreen feature. The widescreen gives it a more cinematic feel.
- Because this is the best part of DBZ, it's pretty awesome.
- the newly reworked dub voice work is really good. It's better than the original Pioneer dub, and I prefer it to the Japanese one. The English voice work with the original Japanese version music means there's no reason at all to watch this in Japanese. Funimation has come a long, long way.
- The remastered quality is pretty good!
- Isamu am cry
- Finally TRUE uncut DBZ. The entirety of the first episode was new to me. That wasn't in the original Pioneer version at all. Those guys really cut this thing up.

Nice value. Cost 40 dollars at FYE.

Characterization: seeing characters grow up is apart of Dragonball and Dragonball Z's charm. Seeing them grow up and have kids makes the characterization feel more realistic, which helps the audience form a bigger bond with the characters on screen, more so than what Bleach has achieved.

Fights: Even if DBZ has pacing issues, it's all because of the manga. They didn't want to go past it, causing tons of unnecessary filler. Anyways, when there's a fight going on DBZ it gets busy and you can get really into it. Goku vs Vegeta fight is greater than the entirety of Bleach.

The filler in DBZ is pretty damn good: the driving lesson episode and others keep the audience entertained. If Bleach is anything like Naruto it's filler is shit.

Influence: DB and DBZ have influenced almost the entire shounen genre, and is better than all of them with the exception of One Piece and Rurouni Kenshin. Naruto and Bleach can kiss it.

Bleach sucks: being the top reason. At least, with all of it's flaws, DBZ remains entertaining.

DBZ isn't my favorite anime. Not by a long shot, but it's still better than Bleach. Rurouni Kenshin ova 1 has been my favorite anime for 7 years now. This isn't the Bleach sucks thread, it's the DBZ season 1 thread.

Even if DB is better than DBZ, I think that the Saiyan saga is equal to a lot of parts on DB. It's much more focused, the direction is better, and it's a lot more creative than the rest of the show. You can tell that DBZ was supposed to end right there, but they had to keep dragging it out.

Anyways, watching the Saiyan saga really shows how over the top the show got as time went on. Saiyan saga really is the best one. It has the best direction and focus, and it's far more cinematic and has good pacing. It really goes to show they truly forced Toriyama to keep going after the Saiyan saga. I like the other arcs, but in terms of quality, Saiyan saga is on par with the original Dragonball. I guess it's because it's very similar in how they do the fights. It's not about who's stronger or who can get level 1000, it's about the strategies that keep the fights interesting. I guess you could say the whole Super Saiyan thing ruined DBZ.

I agree with Mupepe. I mean, I love Namek and all, but it doesn't have the direction of the Saiyan saga. It just doesn't. Also, Freeza saga is padded to hell and overly long. It doesn't know how to pace itself.

I said I liked all the other sagas, but still, they are nothing compared to Saiyan arc.

The Saiyan arc is awesome.

Vegeta is the silent, little man with extraordinary power. Nappa is the big motherfucker that will fuck you up.

The best scene in any DBZ episode is when Nappa is dying and reaches for Vegeta's hand and he throws Nappa and blasts him. Such a perfect scene.

Agreed. I think SS level 4 was in GT, and they turned into monkeys.

Shake: Well..I agree with him, but I think it steadily declined in quality starting with the Freeza saga. The Trunks ordeal is what sealed it.

I don't remember. He fought Goku at the tournament in the original Dragonball, but I forgot if he destroyed the moon. Goku went monkey at the time though. I think they just cut off his tail.

They did cut off Goku's tail thought in like the 10th episode of Dragonball. Goku turns into the ape and breaks them out of the prison and then they cut off his tail.

Oolong the Terrible is the greatest episode from Dragonball, Dragonball Z or Dragonball GT. I love that episode.

You know someone brought up the moon thing yesterday, well there's an episode I've never seen of DBZ I saw last night on the set. There's an episode where Goku's pod sends up an image of the moon and that causes Gohan to turn into an ape again.

What the fuck? Okay there's this episode (another I haven't seen aside from the Gregory chase stuff with the mallet) where King Kai tells Goku the history of the Saiyans. He says that planet Vegeta had their own version of Kami/God and he destroyed the planet with these said meteors because he didn't like how bad the Saiyans were. So um...what with this contradiction? It was undoubtedly Freeza who destroyed planet Vegeta so why did they bring this up? Did they just pull Freeza out of their ass?
