Quote
Perfect Blue is a feature-length anime film, directed by Satoshi Kon (loosely based on the novel of the same name by Yoshikazu Takeuchi). The film is a psychological thriller about Mima Kirigoe, a member of a Japanese pop idol group called "CHAM!" who decides to become an actress. Some of her fans are displeased by her career change, particularly the stalker named Me-Mania. As her new career proceeds Mima's world becomes increasingly reminiscent of the works of Alfred Hitchcock and Philip K. Dick; reality and fantasy spiral out of control as Mima discovers that Me-Mania is the least of her troubles.

whats Millennium Actress about?

It's about this woman and her life as an actress. She's retired, and these guys are documentary about her, and it shows the contrast between her movies and her real life. The thing is that they're not much different than how you would think. It's a pretty cool story, and completely different from Perfect Blue, but still not an exactly conventional animation movie.

what the fuck, 17.99 for Perfect Blue? Thought it'd be cheaper.

It's sad because it's about the consequences of war and the effects on children. That's all I'll say. It made me cry. Despite this, it still remains one of my favorite animated movies. Graves is the type of movie you can only watch like once a year, because it's so damn sad, but you still love the shit out of it because it's such a well made story.

I don't know. He was a kid.

Did you know that Grave of teh Fireflies is based off a true story? The same very thing happeend to the director when he was young and living with his mother and sister during WWII. Difference is that
spoiler (click to show/hide)
he lived. And yes, he did steal that crop from that farmer without bringing anything back to his sister.

It's the same name as the anime. "A Grave of Fireflies"

Wikipedia entry:

Quote
A Grave of Fireflies (火垂るの墓, Hotaru no Haka?) is a 1967 semi-autobiographical novel by Japanese novelist Akiyuki Nosaka. It is based on his experiences before, during, and after the firebombing of Kobe in 1945. One of his sisters died as the result of a sickness, his adoptive father died during the firebombing proper, and another sister died of malnutrition in Fukui.

Nosaka won the Naoki Prize for best popular literature for this book.

I'm looking for the book somewhere..
