These games are definately worth checking out. IIRC the Xbox game was better but I havent played either for several years. Gameplay/ controls were a bit ropey IMO but the art style and music just made them really fun to play.

I got the XBox one for like $20 within months of release. Paid full price for the DC one when it came out.

The DC one is better, but they're both fuck-awesome games. For different reasons. I can see why people would like the second one more.

I like them both equally, but I think I'd say Jet Set Radio is the better game. It's much more replayable, and despite it's flaws (clunky controls, lack of speed that is in Future), it's more fun.

I like the more skillful tagging and the tenseness of the pursuing cops over bigger levels and slicker controls.

I like those features too, but the thing is, with all the people decrying the tense parts of JSR, there are only a few levels that have enemies that chase you all over the whole level. But whatever. Fight or Flight is level design SEX.

The final level in JSR sucks. Like, seriously. The camera is ASS in that level.

I've gotten every character, gotten Jet ranking on all levels, and played through JSR 4 times now. I haven't even touched the bonus stages or whatever you get when you beat the game.

How does JSR have slicker controls? I don't know, I felt the controls were really subpar.

Well, the levels are laid out for more slick play, I guess. And the "tap L/R to tag" sure makes things move more "slickly".

Hmmm. I know what ya mean. JSR for wii would rock. I was thinking about this months ago. When you do tags you SHAKE the wiimote like a can of spray and spray with the B button. Hell yeah. You could make your own tags by drawing them this way too.

Yes, JSR needs to hit Wii. But is their dev studio still in place at Sega? It was Smilebit, right?

Yep.

Smilebit and the people who did Monkey Ball were absorbed into Sega and became one team. They did Yakuza.

tre' would love this topic. I made the mistake (I can admit it now) of playing JSRF before JGR and because of that, the slow pacing of Grind seems unbearable. I like that you can hold onto the back of cars and I dig the motiosn  youhave to make to paint, but the levels seem small. I'm making too many excuses. I really want to get into the game, but I never try hard enough. I kinda like the time limit, too. Gives it an old school sega feeling.

I played JSRF first as well. The speed of JSR definitely took time to get used to.

The levels are small at all later in the game. You have to do whole sections of the cities you were at before, so that's about 4-5 areas where you need to paint. Thing is, you have to know what areas to paint first, and there's a lot of strategy. The level design is amazing.

This game tried way too hard to be cool. It's like that kid that tries to hang with the cool kids but doesn't realize he's a nerd.

I guess it was alright back then. I can't remember if I even beat this game. The controls sucked though, but ya'll already knew that, right?

Tried too hard to be cool? What. JSR reminded me of  Japanese "The Warriors", honestly. It was awesome.

How is it not lame?

It's a contrived rip-off of graffiti culture.

The controls and camera did suck in the Dreamcast version especially. What game were you playing?

Man, all it takes to impress gamers these days is trendy graphics. If this game wasn't cel-shaded no one would have payed attention to it.

YOU'RE FUCKED

Aside from the camera comment, which is difficult to disagree with, you're totally off your fucking rocker.
