Wii online development kits go out.

Finally, Pokémon Battle Revolution is still being lined up as the system's first online title in the US, with Third Parties now receiving online development kits so that titles with online features will start to come in the very near future from all quarters. This will definitely be music to the ears of both gaming fans and developers such as Activision, Majesco and Square Enix, all of which have discussed Wii's online plans in recent months.

I hope they don't screw up pokemon online seeing as it is their first online console game and would be disasterous if it doesn't become perfect, it doesn't look too possible anyways considering it's a turn-based game with four attacks per pokemon.  Fun but not technically impressive which kind of seems like Nintendo's reason for making it online first.

Smash Bros. HAS to have perfect online. While you really may not notice if the other fighter's actions are at 30 fps, it will be so addictive having a fleshed out online play with leaderboards, rankings, and tournaments.

Hypothetically, if a game got extremely popular, do you think Nintendo would update the OS to allow people to use traditional gamertags if the account being used is by an adult and for kids to be required to use friend's codes and no voice chat?

I'd imagine there would be passwords on the adult accounts on the system but this is Nintendo, they don't want Hillary Clinton up their ass.

Miis and pokemon aren't that good, that's right

Smash will be good.

I would love it and it's definitely the type of thing that will make this console sell even more.

Why not?

They have resources.

More incentive (this is their weakspot to the average gamer).

And they already have an image as a functional "game" machine to build off of.

They have never cared before. I'm refusing to get my hopes up for anything Nintendo based, ever again. The Wii has opened my eyes to this shit too much

Well theoretically, they need something that shows their games have an edge.

People don't suddenly drop hundreds of dollars because of a system's possiblities (PS3 proves this) they want a system that has games which they KNOW are fun and make the system a worthwhile requirement of the game.

They've never cared about showing an edge though. Nearly everytime they could have done it they fall back. And since the third party support is so weak we can't rely on them to bail Nintendo out in the "mature" category. Capcom basically called Nintendo "kiddie" yesterday lol

You'll be as bitter as me in no time, especially when you find out SSBB supports like 2 players online with no leaderboards :lol

yeah, Nintendo has said before that they consider themselves the "Disney" of videogames, and that winning kids over is the key to their longterm success.

The sad thing is that Nintendo has many developers who could make mature games for them on a consistant basis. Instead Retro has become "The Metroid" studio, and are being influenced to put shit like multiplayer into the games instead of MAKING A REAL FPS IP. Intelligent Systems is amazing, but sadly Fire Emblem will never become popular since it's stuck in the 80's. With better graphics and more cutscenes instead of card board cut outs filling the screen with text it could be a big franchise. The gameplay can stay the same.

Then there's companies like Brownie Brown and Castle who apparently don't do anything. Nintendo doesn't have a staple FPS series, a staple RPG series, etc. All they have is Zelda, Mario, Metroid, and all those other shitty things Ntards nut over. Why not make Star Fox something I can give a damn about?

And the next Metroid Prime doesn't have multiplayer.

No I'll bet a ban, one month that Metroid Prime 3 for Wii doesn't have online or offline multiplayer.

I'll take that bet :lol

You do realize the game was done for all collective purposes in October, but was indefinitely delayed to miss the launch and now won't be out until Q2 2007? Why do you think it was delayed like that?
